About Sheryl
  • Exchanging hurt for hope is my life focus. Radio personality, author and speaker, I am passionate about how God takes the ashes of our losses, bitterness and mistakes and turnes them into something remarkably beautiful. Is.61:3

“Exchanging hurt for hope,” is my life focus. Through twenty-seven years of marriage to a pastor, parenting two children, overcoming addictions, beating cancer, enduring losses, I love life in Christ and choose to live each day in abundant freedom and hope. My speaking and writing encourages men and women with her practical presentations in growing toward wholeness. My powerful internationally acclaimed messages testify of God’s transforming power across cultural and language barriers.

A dynamic teacher and motivating leader, I have equipped hundreds and facilitated the training of thousands of leaders in the fifteen years she has directed the annual Christian Ministry Convention of the Central Valley. In ministry and leadership, I have endured changes and challenges, forcing me and my husband to move on to new levels of faith, trust and dependence on God. Recently healed of stage 4 lymphoma, I know the heartbreak of disappointment, discouragement and disease. From the depths of these experiences, my desire is for believers to understand their identity in Christ, to be set free from past hurts, to be healed and whole emotionally as they understand the truth of Isaiah 61:1-7. My messages engage, inspire and encourage leaders -- both men and women at any level. For a few four-minute samples of my messages, check out: under Radio Ministry.

I am passionate about sharing how God takes the ashes of our losses, bitterness and mistakes; and turns them into something remarkably beautiful. My own story began with my conversion to Christ over 30 years ago. Once a rebellious teen-ager, alcoholic and drug addict, I know what it is to overcome physical addictions. Once bearing the emotional scars of sexual sin, I understands the agony of abuse and how it affects marriage and other relationships.

The joys of my life are my husband and two children. I have been a columnist, discussing ministry, parenting, and life as a pastor’s wife, for Focus on the Family. I've written hundreds of articles, which have appeared in varied publications, including Pastor’s Family Magazine, Discipleship Journal, Just Between Us, CCM Magazine and Walk Thru the Bible. Since 1998, my radio ministry, “Kindred Moments with Sheryl Giesbrecht” has broadcast daily to thousands of listeners. I hold a bachelor of arts from Biola University, a master’s in ministry and a doctorate of divinity from Summit Bible College.
