Comment on Dr. Vitti as candidate for Detroit Schools:

Scott Shine Duval County School Board, District 2 3/18/2017 8:37 am – For immediate release Statement regarding possible departure of DCPS Superintendent Vitti I learned today …

It is important to have a continuum of service in our educational system. Shine will be running for this seat again in 2018. "We do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard" – John F. Kennedy

Candidate for Duval County School Board District 2 makes 90-second video statement.

This made my day – the endorsement of Janet Adkins, a former School Board member and current Florida House Representative to the Beaches. Rep Adkins is a true champion for education and of the citizens. She sets the model for others to follow.

Big salute to my campaign team and friends who helped me take 46% of the vote in the SB District 2 primary last night. We did much better than expected and too...k all but two precincts in the district. We will not know our run-off challenger for a few days, as second place (19%) is separated by only 3 votes between those candidates. Supervisor's office will start a recount of the race tomorrow (8/28) to make a final determination of 2nd place. Thanks to everyone who helped out and voted Shine!

Received the endorsement of JaxBiz, the political arm of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce. This has become one, if not the most critical endorsement to have in a local political race. 3 weeks to election day.

I would like to say thanks to the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors who have endorsed my campaign! Most rigorous endorsement interview I ever went through. These are true professionals.

Charlie Latham, Mayor of Jacksonville Beach, officially endorsed my candidacy for School Board. Charlie has been super involved since being elected and has done an excellent job of making Jax Beach a great, accessible beach for families. I look forward to working the Charlie and all the beaches leaders to make our schools the best they can be. Big thanks to Mayor Charlie!

We added the endorsement of Former City Council President Kevin Hyde today. Kevin is an incredible leader. We first met when we served together on the board of the Youth Crisis Centers. Kevin was also the first administrative officer for the current city administration. Good to have him on board!

Clerk of the Court and former City Council President Ronnie Fussell endorses Scott Shine for School Board. Ronnie is a great guy and a self made man. He worked his way up the ladder of success -- he sets a good example to follow. Many Thanks to Ronnie!
