Exciting times. The council is showing their latest thoughts
on the Silchester regeneration masterplan area and wants to get
our views on the exciting redevelopment option. Come to one of the drop-in sessions.
Watch this video. Great example of the benefits our neighbourhood could have post regeneration.
It would be tempting to see these figures as having no impact in practical terms. Unfortunately they do influence our daily lives. 6 months ago residents witnessed an arrest in Markland House tower block, two months after that the same happened in Frinstead House. There is constant and relentless anti-social behaviour in our streets which are sometimes watched by our children, such as the vandalisation of bicycles, verbal abuse, etc. Last week a takeaway was refused to be delivered in our street "because drivers had been mugged several times there". Is this the future of our sons and daughters? Or can we once and for all take into account wide spread research pointing to the relationship between tower blocks and ASB and crime and take advantage of regeneration to change that?

Some councils do go too far. Great victory for those homeowners
This view has dominated this neighbourhood for 50 years blocking the sky views of hundreds of people around these towers. Why not upgrade it with energy efficient, low rise, well designed houses that make all residents prouder of living here?
The profile of those against regeneration in North Kensington: £40,000+ salary living with husband and taking advantage of social housing while hundreds of people on a lower salary are forced to pay private rent. Social benefits is a tool to help people out of trouble and not a lifetime entitlement
