Hi, we're Sticker City
Me, the caffeine queen, drinking some throat coat tea in preparation for our show at the Sidebar tomorrow with Sons of Hippies, Magnetar Flares, and Goodbye New Plans. Show starts at 9, we're up first.
Adam's face when you live in Maryland but don't come to Charm City Art Space tonight to see us with She Bears, The Breadshots, and Paul Newman and the Ride Home

Daniel and I have been playing music together since middle school. Today, this photo was unearthed, courtesy of Peter Abzug.

Here we are mean mugging in front of our elementary school in the DC suburbs.

And on the twenty-third week, the week of one thousand shirts, there also was a song called "Moonman (Like Spoonman)"

https://soundcloud.com/sistercitysongaweek/week-23-moonman-like-spoonman

Loosening from lucid
Only listening to music wh...en it’s muted
Pretend that god is in the grooves
And that the record will be over soon

Growing older should mean groaning over more important things
Higher standards, at the risk of grandeur and the delusions that it brings
But not me, I got it all sewed up
I’m gonna build a home a scotch from too close to the sun
I’m gonna summer on the goddamn moon
I’ll shut my eyes and I’ll enjoy the view

Because I don’t think, I don’t think, I don’t think -- I do
I never let the details find a ditch to drag me into
I know I tried, know I tried the tried and true
But it was so long ago I probably couldn’t even tell you
What I found to gripe about when I spit it out my mouth
What I couldn’t then and still don’t want to chew
At least I don’t think, I don’t think, I don’t think I do

Loosening from lucid
What a thing to be invincible and stupid!
A train atop its tracks
Except I’m conjuring the wreckage and the aftermath
While I’m honing in on human
Getting warmer until it’s positively humid
The sweat sticks to my skin
So I bail before I discover it

Some stones are better left unturned
No disrespect borne for the earth or for the worms
But some ends are utterly unearned
And of course that’s a concern, but there are a few things to take care of first

I’ve got a plan, I’ve got it all sewed up
I’m gonna build a home a scotch from too close to the sun
I’m gonna summer on the goddamn moon
I’ll shut my eyes and I’ll enjoy the view

Because I don’t think, I don’t think, I don’t think -- I do
I never let the details find a ditch to drag me into
I know I tried, know I tried the tried and true
But it was so long ago I probably couldn’t even tell you
What I found to gripe about when I spit it out my mouth
What I couldn’t then and still don’t want to chew
At least I don’t think, I don’t think, I don’t think I do

Week 22. Funny story, the eye chart in the picture says ASK ABOUT ILLUMINATI

https://soundcloud.com/sistercitysongaweek/week-22-ducktales

"Ducktales"
...
Holding my own hangman’s rope
Nope, just holding my own

Sweating at the foot of the skyline
Squinting my eyes into the bright night
Staging a show for the satellites
In an implied assembly
So it’s a song for the unseen
And I’m projecting it proudly
The strength in my voice from the get-go
Diminished returns with each echo
Life as a slow decrescendo
Hit the high note and then coast

Better off in a pine wood box
No I’m not, I’m just better off

And attempting to get my point across by
Expending the strength that I saved up
From a decade and change as a lame duck
Euphoric then drained in the ensuing rush
Not that I want to gloss over
The arc for the eventual smolder
But it’s not easy to stave off the closer
It’ll argue the law to the letter
But the goal was never “forever”
Life as the rests in the measures
Sometimes the less, the better

But what if it’s not a mistake
To engage in the debate?
Then again, what if it is?
If it’s a monolith and everything’s determinist
Then that’s a weight off of my ribs
And I might even actually live
Comfortable and prosperous
In the warm hug of indifference

I see the scythe as it’s coming for me
No, actually, I finally just see

To top off all of this amazing news making me a Happy Camper, here is "Gross Stuff," week 21 in "I write a song a week in 2014 and annoy our FB fans about it"

...
Blessed be the graven idols
Responsible for my survival
And for the fates to which we're all entitled
Woe unto my every rival

Violently sick of sound
Lost in the clamors of every day timbres
And about to lay my weapons down
But for some obligation or misinformation
Because I've got the facts:

The artist as an otherworldly vessel
Is garbage but it sure is sweetly sentimental

But who’d fault romantics
But the pitifully pedantic?
And who’d fall for lonely
But the guy who thinks he’s at the top
Because it hurts to crane his neck farther up
And it’s the same thing looking side to side
So it’s me, myself, and I

In a relatively empty room
Trying desperately to tell the truth
There’s beauty, but there’s horror too
There are no results without some residue

Hey it's week 20! Before we announce a Philly show for Sunday, have a new song to tide you over: https://soundcloud.com/sistercitysongaweek/week-20-everything-was-the-same

"Everything Was the Same"

Float to the top
One way or another...
You’re bound to be discovered
Whether bloated, water logged and floating slowly from the bottom
Or you’re soaring up to stardom, to incredible peaks, incredulously
Achieving impossible dreams, preposterously

You catch a wave either way

And you insist,
Red-faced at a horse race,
Indifference
There’s not a wager from the manger to the shiva-sit
Worth a handshake, they’re all mistakes, so you stomach it
When the one you were eyeing the entire time
Pulls ahead in the end and wins

Sink to a fresh low
Leave a new, more true experience
To the adventurous and curious
Who think that they can know
The absolutes on either side
The languishing and the most alive

Let ‘em try
Worse comes to worst, they’re right
You can just change your mind
Leave the middle for a little while

You said once
Completely serious
That the impetuous are the best of us
And dared the sky
To loose a lightning bolt and strike you blind
Then walked away completely fine
The story streaks, blurring fiction with your memory
Because you repeat it every night when you can’t fall asleep

All those annoying birds are chirping about tonight's show in Baltimore at The Sidebar with best buds Atlas At Last, Paul Newman and the Ride Home, and Counterfeit i. Starts at 9. Come on out and make those dumb birds shut up.
Which celebrity said they were excited about our show at The Sidebar on Tuesday night with Counterfeit i, Paul Newman and the Ride Home, and Atlas At Last?

Zac Efron, of course! He's pumped to hear the new song we'll be debuting. Come on out. It's all ages, even though you wouldn't think so.
