We're proud to be named the 2016 Pro Bono Champion by Children's Law Center, which interviewed our D.C. office leader, Mitch Ettinger.

"When you're an attorney in DC you're often dealing with multi-million dollar cases for large corporations. But then you see a kid who can't breathe because of ...mold in their apartment, and it brings you back down to earth." Heartfelt words from Mitch Ettinger, head of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP's DC office. Last year, Skadden lawyers dedicated almost 30,000 volunteer hours to help the DC community. That's why we will honor Skadden as our 2016 Pro Bono Champion this September. CONGRATULATIONS Skadden -- and our deepest thanks!

Shortly after Joe Flom's passing, when The New York Times asked Wall Street dealmakers for their remembrances of him, several expressed gratitude for Joe's generous willingness to share his profound insights into orchestrating mergers and acquisitions. As Joe said in an interview with The American Lawyer in 1989, "What's really thrilling to me is not doing it myself but knowing that these other guys can now do it. That proves I've built something."

On the fifth anniversary of... Joe's passing, the firm he helped build continues to be driven by the culture of innovation and excellent client service he instilled in it. Our recent successes — across practice areas and around the globe — as well as our continued commitment to public service are a fitting tribute to his memory. As Skadden partner Peter Atkins told The Times, "On a profoundly sad day, the good news is that Joe leaves an enduring and powerful legacy." We're proud to carry that legacy forward.
