This was my third visit to Smokey Joe's, and I couldn't ask for more. Also my second visit for a birthday; they are happy to refrigerate and provide plates etc. for home brought birthday cakes ( cakeage fee), very friendly staff, amazingly warm and cosy atmosphere, and food as always, consistently superb. Go the Boston Butt!
My only possible reservation.....the meals are so generous we didn't have room to actually eat the birthday cake! Wish I could give 6 stars, so: ******

Went here many years ago and was fantastic then it appeared to go downhill but went back last night and was even better then it ever was I had the dry ribs crocodile and cinimon banana for dessert👍 It...’s My favourite place to eat out now can’t wait to go back. Just experienced our first smokey joe meal! OMG!!! We loved every moment of our time there tonight, from our fantastic meals to our incredible service. The staff was amazing in all aspects and accommodating to both my husband and I and our small children.
Already planning our next trip down. Our kiddies say thank you for the ice cream � x

Great place. The staff were fantastic, attentive but unassuming. All of our food was delicious and filling. As a bonus, they have cocktails as well. These were outstanding, but left no room for a dess...ert... Can't wait for next time. See More

Absolutely beautiful owner and staff, seated us with no reservation, food was amazing authentic Creole American food. Just wish they were in Hobart too. Brisket, Fajitas, Creme Brûlée and Beignets. �

At long last, I finally ate here last night. And oh my goodness.... it was absolutely superb. I was desperately hoping it would be good, and it exceeded my every expectation. Deep fried crocodile, Chi...michanga (deep-fried shredded beef burrito), Boston Butt (pork shoulder with BBQ sauce), Boudin balls (deep-fried cajun sausage balls), hot wings.... absolutely sublime. And, added bonus, the atmosphere was awesome, the staff were wonderful and the overall feel of the place was just fabulous. My new favourite restaurant! Literally can hardly wait to go back to try some more of the dishes on the menu. It's so rare to have a 5 out of 5 dining experience these days but Smokey Joe's - you've nailed it. See More

Everything was amazing from the moment i arrived to the moment i left. The staff, the food and the atmosphere was perfect! Our waiter was so awesome and the chef even came out to talk about his delici...ous food.

I'm from Adelaide and this place far surpasses the Creole cafe from my State. All the food was bursting with flavour and had good sized portions. I wish I was a local so I could eat my way through the menu

Had our first visit here tonight and it was an awesome experience. The food was amazing, so good in fact we ordered extra bread to mop up the sauce! And the staff were friendly and made more than just... great food! See More

Tonight we had a fantastic meal at Smokey Joe’s. Service was fantastic and each dish was exceptional. We enjoyed BBQ Boston Butt, Beef Brisket and the jambalaya. Highly recommend �

Incredible food, and immaculate service every single time. One of my favourite restaurants and if it isn't yet one of yours, you need to make a reservation and change that!

We had smoked brisket and found it brilliant. Service was first class and if you like hot sauces take them up on the offer. Be warned though: Unless you can drink Mcilhenny's Tabasco Sauce from the b...ottle you might find it a bit fiery. See More

This place was amazing offered exactly what we needed after a 3.5 hour hike through Cradle Mountain. Great food. Great service. Amazing atmosphere. Delicious desserts and drinks. Highly recommend.

Never even realised this fab joint was here, but i am now hooked! Started off with the deep fried mushrooms, perfect! Next up, shared the Northern style ribs & chicken fajita, both were absolutely del...icious! Finished with the peach cobbler, supreme! Drinks were on point, staff were friendly & the atmosphere had a super chilled vibe! The staff were even kind enough to offer me a cool glass of milk, after I tried some of their homebrewed hot sauce! Will definitely be coming back here sooner rather than later! ���� See More

Great food and great atmosphere. Had Cajan wings, Nth Carolina ribs with baked potato, deep fried mushrooms and dry rub ribs with warm potato salad and fried beans. Yum yum. They make their own hot sa...uce too. Not for the faint hearted. Their beignets and chocolate creme brûlée are just stellar. This is our 4th visit. We will be back again. See More

This place was fantastic. The staff were so fun and our waiter was so polite and prompt. The atmosphere was great. The food was phenomenol, big servings.. Not too much that you waste it, bit enough to... make you happy full. I will definitely be taking all my friends back. See More
Making chili sauces is a fairly routine activity for us, as it has been for over fifteen years now, but I just want to share how beautiful the sheen and silky texture are on my latest batch of redemption sauce--all natural with no preservatives or emulsifiers 😁

A great place to grab an awesome meal in Launceston is at Smokey Joe's Creole Cafe.

We have known Jon since he opened his doors over 10 years ago now and while... we don't get to visit as often as we would like, the cafe is going from strength to strength. Make sure you check it out, especially if you love good chilli.

Making some more crawfish pies-using wild caught lobster tails. First we boil them off in spices and beer, coaxing out the natural sweetness of the meat. 😁
