F I R S T. O F. A L L . . .
I was already out of my comfort zone. We were hiking. And while beautiful and not super strenuous, we were hiking, which is NOT my thing. SECOND, we were warned by a group coming back up the trail that there was a rattlesnake between the bridge and the cave. 😳 And even though I now live in the dessert, I’ve never come into contact with a rattlesnake, nor do I have any aspirations to someday cross paths with one. SO YES, I hesitated, for a minute, w...hen we reached the cave. Yes, I asked him if he was really sure we should enter said dark cave. And yes, I probably would’ve turned the other way and been satisfied with how far we had already made it. BUT I WENT IN ANYWAY. I put one foot in front of the other and went for it. I set aside my fear of confined dark spaces (that cave could crumble on top of me at any time!) and I said, “ok, let’s go.” (No exclamation point at the end of that phrase needed.) I put on my big girl panties and followed him inside. AND WE MADE IT! (Exclamation point.) And there were no snake bites, no crumbling caves, and not even a lot of complaining! The end of the trail was gorgeous, the views of the cove were breathtaking. (Or I was just out of breath? 🤷♀️) It was worth it. I’d recommend this trail to everyone, even if you don’t like hiking. Or rattlesnakes. Or falling caves. And even if you have a husband, like mine, who makes you do dumb things (like hike on vacation!) and then teases you for being hesitant. ❤️
Would you have gone in the cave? @ Partington Cove
