The City of Spokane Mayor’s choice for police chief, Craig Meidl, has agreed to participate in two public forums to give everyone the opportunity to ask questions and vet the candidate.

Forums will be held on:
Thursday, Aug. 11, 6-8 pm, in the Mason Room of the West Central Community Center, 1603 N. Belt

Wednesday, Aug. 17, 6-8 pm, in the DDA Room of the East Central Community Center, 500 S. Stone

Questions will be taken from the floor and those who cannot make these times can email their questions to Grifynn Clay at gclay@spokanecity.org.

The City Council will put the Mayor’s choice to a vote on Aug. 22.

This cultural audit information was recently released by the city. This has been a desired recommendation since 2014. We are excited but cautiously optimistic for the process and outcome(s).

The City of Spokane Police Department is excited to announce a new partnership with Gonzaga University to conduct a cultural audit of the department. The Gonzag...a University’s Doctoral Program in Leadership Studies will evaluate the work culture of SPD. Under the leadership of Dr. JoAnn Danelo Barbour, doctoral students will collect and analyze data, in the form of surveys, interviews, cultural artifacts and observational data.
