Wow! Mardi Bras was a HUGE success! Over 100 bras, plus underwear, socks, feminine hygiene products, and toiletries were collected. On top of all that, $110 in ...cash was collected from a raffle to win a custom-made cake made by Deb Roth. She generously donated two cakes, and Floyd Cloke and Sonia Bertsch were the lucky winners. Thanks to everyone at church for their generosity, with special thanks to the Adult Fellowship for hosting the Mardi Bras Party.
Jon Carollo at Hope House is excited to receive all these donations tomorrow. #MardiBras
Thank you Westminster United Church of Christ for hosting a very festive Mardi Bras party over the weekend!
Westminster Mardi Bras! On Saturday, we collected 80 bras, 132 pairs of underwear, hundreds of tampons/pads and $90 in donations for VOA's programs for women e...xperiencing homelessness and living in poverty in our community - thanks to all who donated! Fawn Schott, Jon Carollo, and Jay Castro, from VOA told us about Hope House, Alexandria's House for Pregnant teens, Crosswalk and other services they provide. We enjoyed Cajun food including King's cakes, some made mardi masks and we had lots of good conversations. Let's do it again next year!
Thanks to SON Committee and the Monday night Small Group Ministry for organizing, cooking, decorating and hosting.
A big shout out to the St. Clare Ecumenical Catholic Community for their incredible donation to support and surround women experiencing homelessness!
