Chupa Chups Lollipops will be always found at our front desk soon!

The Chupa Chup lollipop company was started in 1958 in Barcelona by Enric Bernat. When thecandy was first created, the sticks were made of wood, but was switched to plastic as a result
of a Spanish wood shortage. Bernat got the idea of a "bonbon with a stick" from an upset mother as her child got sticky hands from melting sweets. Chupa Chups has positioned itself for an adult consumer as well as appealing to c...hildren. Over 50% of their consumers are over the age of 11 and are the # 1 lollipop in 160 countries.

The Chupa Chup logo was designed by the surrealist artist Salvador Dali. Celebrities, such as Madonna, Giorgio Armani, Magic Johnson, Bjork, Mariah Carey, Stella McCartney, and Jerry
Seinfeld helped to advertise the lollipop. Chupa Chups became associated with the fashion world. The London Mail proclaimed Chupa Chups as the “fashion accessory that goes with anything” and when Elle magazine published its “Top 100 Catwalk Trends” Chupa Chups were one of them. The association of Chupa Chups with celebrities in the fashion and music world has been reinforced over the years. It is because of Chupa Chups connection to the trends, arts, music and fashion that SpringHill Suites selected it as its signature lollipop, to complement the brand’s core element of style.

As of 2010, SpringHill Suites alone has consumed over 4.5 million Chupa Chups! Be sure to pass along the Chupa Chup story and how it became our signature lollipop!

Chupa Chup fun facts: Their motto is “Life Less Serious”. They have a mascot that appears in their commercials named “Chupa Chuck”. In the mid-nineties, Chupa Chups became the first lollipop sent into space at the request of the cosmonauts on the MIR space station.

What is bleisure??

"Combining business with leisure—or bleisure—differs across professions. A third of professionals (32 percent) feel their work and leisure time is very intertwined, in particular those in agriculture and farming (43 percent), architecture and design (43 percent), and management consultancy (42 percent). It’s no surprise then that, regardless of industry, professionals try to make the most of a destination when traveling for business. Two thirds (69 percent)... extend a business trip by a few hours or days to enjoy the city, while three quarters (73 percent) make time for leisure activities within a trip. Overall, 45 percent of professionals value this ability to blend business travel with leisure over traditional workplace benefits"
