To spend an afternoon with Ron Finley––South LA's Gangsta Gardener––is to revel in the unexpected, the beautiful, the incendiary and the bold. Through his Ron Finley Project he is truly changing the world. Read more about Ron and how you can help save his life-changing sidewalk garden in my Gardenista story here. #savethegangstagarden

Always thrilled to feature such beautiful design work on Remodelista. Case in point: the stellar Moby 3143 with aesthetics by We Are Huntly. Photo by: Sharyn Cairns. http://www.remodelista.com/…/restaurant-visit-moby-cafe-in…/

Spending the afternoon interviewing artist and veteran Larry Glaze was a lesson in gratitude, a celebration of creativity and a chance to tap into one's inner child. I am in awe of this visionary's approach to life, his unending love for his late wife, Judy, and his wildly eclectic and loyal group of friends. He grabs every moment with both hands. Stay tuned for the story –– and check out his work in the meantime: http://www.antlerartoftheplains.com/
I immensely enjoyed writing this Remodelista feature on the historical Hudson, NY home of Jocelyn Sinaur, owner of Red Chair on Warren with beautiful photo styling by NY-based Zio & Sons: http://remodeli.st/2aBFSDg
A happy reunion! I met Dave Miller in 2015 when I produced a special report on his then-burgeoning veteran service dog organization, Heartland Canines for Veterans (thanks to Aaron Thompson for the amazing camera work). Today the non-profit is thriving thanks to Miller's endless efforts to give disabled veterans the gift of a loving, loyal, canine companion. I commend him, along with his wife Judy, Kenneth Anderson, the organization’s President, LaShay Swem, On Command Canine Training Center 417-439-0944 and Compass Quest Joplin Regional Veteran Services for their collaboration to help so many who have served. http://bit.ly/1WPKaY5

To see Frank Lloyd Wright's quiet architectural genius in his Bachman-Wilson House at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is to stand in utter awe. Here's a recent shot I took of the #Usonian dwelling: http://www.remodelista.com/…/current-obsessions-june-11-20…/

Huge thanks to Mike Mjelde and the Frontenac Bakery crew for putting me in the game today. So THAT'S how the best bread in town is made! Check out the story in the next issue of Joplin Regional Business Journal.

Thank you Stacey Lindsay, Multimedia Journalist and Joplin Regional Business Journal for chronicling the past, present, and future story of our #JoplinArts comm...unity – "A Creative Renaissance: In early 2011 Joplin was already a burgeoning place of art, but the tornado unveiled a consideration for creativity like never before."
"The 'renaissance' moniker is relevant. Joplin's art endeavors began gaining momentum years before the tornado, but the shift toward a more considered and aware community took flight after the storm, like the butterflies in the mural."

A fire this morning at Tawnya Bach’s Pittsburg home sent her husband and two youngest sons to the hospital. Her husband James, Leif, age ...3 and Gehrett, age 2 were flown to KU Medical Center. They are being treated for smoke inhalation and are all in stable condition. Tawnya's oldest son was outside at the time. Tawnya’s home is a complete loss. We will keep you updated on this situation. We hope you will join us in wishing them the best during this difficult time.
