【Going Global — Repositioning Statement】 For over a month, the “Fight for Freedom. Stand with Hong Kong.” campaign has called on the British Government to ensure the implementation of the 1984 Sino-British Joint Declaration. We are encouraged to see that the G7 group of countries ‘reaffirms the existence and importance’ of this international treaty. Now it’s time for us to expand our scope, and go global! Following the successful collaboration between the FreedomHKG and StandWithHK teams, we appreciate, more than ever, the strength in unity in our appeal to the international community for support in Hong Kong’s fight for freedom and democracy. In the coming months, we will continue to collaborate with existing groups that have been appealing to their respective governments for concrete actions regarding the Hong Kong situation. These collaborations are based upon the common goal of garnering international support to restore fundamental rights and freedoms to the people of Hong Kong. A core principle is the mutual respect for the autonomy of each collaborating party, so no one group acts on behalf of the others. Efforts of the original UK-centric Joint Declaration petition campaign will continue to be funded by the crowdfunding exercise completed on 12 July 2019. The UK activities, which have wider objectives, may be jointly or fully funded by the “StandWithHK x FreedomHKG” crowdfunding campaign which concluded on 11 August 2019. The upcoming collaboration with local groups will be funded exclusively by the latter crowdfunding round (link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/standwithhk-international ). Given this global collaboration model, we announce that the use of our logo is only permitted with the express written consent of our Team. However, our artwork, images, video, and text are available to everyone under a Creative Commons (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) licence for non-commercial and non-derivative use, given proper acknowledgement.
