We had our daughter’s wedding here and if they had a 10-Star option I would have picked that! Every single person we dealt with were professional, courteous and completely on top of every little det...ail from start to finish. Peggy Pappas gets a special thank-you as she was an absolute joy to deal with and we’ve never experienced such great customer service. There’s no better venue and with a married couple who are successful professional athletes, the expectations were high and you folks more than exceeded them. Thank you!!!! See More

We enjoyed our Christmas stay in the Pioneer cabins. It was really nice that we where able to bring our dogs with. Grateful that Starved Rock now has 3 cabins that allow dogs. And what a great surpris...e having a botttle of bubbly on ice waiting in the cabin! The staff was friendly and so hard working. It snowed and the staff worked almost around the clock to shovel sidewalks and plow the parking lot and roads. Our only suggestion would be to have pet friendly salt placed on the sidewalks in front of the designated pet cabins instead of regular salt. We did eat in the Cafe and the food was very good.
Again, thank you for the enjoyable weekend

We’ve stayed here multiple times and absolutely love it here! Whatever type of getaway you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, sight seeing, family fun Starved Rock Lodge can accommodate! We’ve sta...yed during every season and just got back today actually from our first winter experience. We were nice and cozy in a cabin, hiked and saw gorgeous frozen waterfalls, bald eagles ect... and at night we relaxed in the hot tub or bar area. We will be back again probably for spring... might bring the kids but we do enjoy our own time too :) See More

We had our Thanksgiving lunch at Starved Rock Lodge. It was a first. I had heard so much about it.
Almost half the items are breakfast including make to order omelets and waffles with fruit, and incl...ude all the T-Day requirements like green bean casserole and sweet potato casserole. Besides turkey, they also had fried chicken, delicious pot roast, carved ham, tilapia with a wonderful topping, cheese shells with a creamy lobster sauce, nice salad bar with just a regular salad and toppings with several others like potato salad, oriental Cole slaw, macaroni salad, Italian pasta salad. An array of desserts - really a lot of choices, though I thought the pumpkin pie and whipped cream were just okay. I far more enjoyed the carrot cake and key lime pie! Had a glass of wine in the great hall as we waited for everyone - surprised it was Chicago pricing for an okay glass of wine. With the prepaid $33 plus tax and tip, it is a little pricey. Was so glad it was such a beautiful day to enjoy the park and Lodge. See More

Went to see a band in the bar, which is too small for larger bands. We ordered dinner, which took several minutes to get (that was okay since it was busy). Then we sat several minutes trying to get si...lverware so that we could eat our dinner, but our waitress was nowhere to be found. We finally flagged down a manager. Pot roast was fine, veggies were just okay, & the mashed potatoes were cold & lumpy by the time we got our silverware. Waitress picked up our nearly full plates (since food was not good cold) & never asked us how it was. I also never received my soup. So I would suggest this place for music but not food. To be fair, our friends (who all ordered burgers) said their's were good...and they didn't need silverware so their own food was warm! See More

Nice place to visit, all the staff was very nice. Was there with my fathers 50th anniversary for his Marine group, so about 30 or 40 of us there. Most of them were older so not as much stuff for them... all to do but still ok. The rooms are smaller and no fridge or microwave in the rooms. Food was good, bar was cool, fish need more room to anyways more good than bad. Thanks Illinois for having us Semper Fi! See More

If you want or need anything beyond their bar food, you better get it before 5 pm. They advertise their homemade ice cream but again, you have to get it before 5 pm. The 2 stores on the premises close... at 5. In fact, you have to drive quite a distance to find anything open past 9pm. My bathroom sink was not wiped down and crumbs that were on the carpet in my room when I checked in remained there throughout my stay. Ice machine near my room worked sporadically. My room keys stopped working out of nowhere, front desk did not apologize at all. Outside doors that were supposed to be locked and opened with your room key were left wide open so that anyone could walk in. There's potential for an outstanding facility given the location, but some changes need to be made. See More

I visit Starved Rock at least twice a year, have something to eat at the lodge, and love it. Today was a different story. I took my 82 year old mother-in-law to see eagles, and then to the bar to intr...oduce her to one of our favorites—Gorgonzola nachos. The park was very busy, and hence the bar was full. The dining room had wait staff and people eating and plenty of empty tables. I asked a waitress if we just seat ourselves, and she told me go the desk, and the lady there would seat us. Well, I asked for a table, and she told me the dining room was CLOSED (?), but she could seat us on the patio. It’s a nice day, but it’s JANUARY. I believe I mentioned I had my 82 year old mother-in-law with me. I looked around the dining room AT PEOPLE EATING, and empty tables, and wait staff and asked if she couldn’t just seat us in there. “The dining room is closed. You can try the bar.” This was about 2 pm on a Saturday, and there were a million people in the park, and the dining room, which obviously has staff on duty, is closed???We left. Not impressed at all with this and I will have a very hard time going back. See More

Great time great Brunch! Love coming out there whenever we can. Only issue, we had one person in our group who had a diet restriction so she could only eat the fruit in the buffet. It would have been... nice to have limited options that I could have gotten from the bar See More

The first night we stayed in the cabin with only a full size bed. Did not sleep well. It was nice but little small for us. We did also noticed some ants but that was to be expected being it's a cabin... in the woodsy area. Enjoyed being in the area so decided to stay another night only this time in the wing room of the hotel. Amazing stay, comfy beds and a lot bigger. The young lady at the desk the night of July 26th was very sweet and helpful finding places nearby. I definitely recommend the hotel wing room area. See More

We just came back from a two day trip to the lodge. We originally had a reservation in a Pioneer Cabin. It smelled and was dirty all around. (I'd recommend new flooring or sealing the flooring, the bathrooms, changing the bed cover between guests and cleaning the windows/blinds to whomever is in charge.) I still give the lodge 5 stars because they were apologetic, gracious and reassigned us to a room in the Lodge. The customer service was top notch even though they must have been stressed with a big wedding and the holiday weekend. It never showed. We really enjoyed our stay. Very relaxing. The dining was what you'd expect for a lodge with a throw back 1950s feel to it. We are looking forward to another trip later in the year. We'll stay in the Lodge. Lol. See More
