Cross Canyon was insane as usual! Over emphasize to trivialize.

The weather has been bipolar the last two days but in typical steens fashion, we are adapting and making the best of it. Cross Canyon race tomorrow!

Acclimation day went mostly as planned. Today we begin an alternative Big Day due to the weather report.

My computer could barely handle the 4K footage, but here it is.

Steens Mountain Running Camp added 16 new photos — with Abigail Swain and 2 others.

After a 5K like this, all others will seem easy.

Yesterday's "Big Day" was a success. Although there was cramping all around (including staff), everyone made it out of the canyon for 21 miles and a majority got all the way back to camp (28 miles). Today has been a recovery day and tomorrow we race the "Cross Canyon" 5K (no trail and no finish line in sight)

Mountain tour for the newbies is complete. We'll be up bright and early tomorrow for the 28 mile "Big Day"

Campers are settled in and acclimating to the elevation (camp is around 6800ft). New campers are on their way up the mountain for a tour.
