The Sandwich STEM Academy is once again hosting the New England Regional MATE (Marine Advanced Technology Education) ROV (r...emotely operated vehicle) Competition at the high school swimming pool.
The event takes place on Saturday, May 6 beginning around 9:00 AM through early afternoon. Middle and High School students from several districts will be competing in a series of challenging activities with the equipment that they built.
The STEM Academy Robotics Club led by engineering teacher Ginger Lavelle will have a couple of teams in the competition. There will be around 11 Scout teams (middle school) and 11 Ranger teams (high school).
In addition there will be an Ocean Technology Expo in the corridor leading to the pool during the event. Many organizations and businesses will have their equipment on display including Teledyne Marine and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
