- Have you ever considered why an individual might experience homeless...ness? Do you felt at a loss about how to interact with someone less fortunate you encounter on the streets? Would you like to learn how to feel more comfortable in approaching individuals with compassion? Seattle’s Mental Health Chaplaincy will offer “Companionship Training" Saturday October 8th 9am – 12 noon in St. James Cathedral's Cathedral Place Building, 803 Terry Ave, corner of Columbia Street and Terry Avenue For many years, Seattle’s Mental Health Chaplaincy has provided a companioning presence for those experiencing homelessness, mental illness, addictions and trauma. Kae Eaton holds a Masters in Theology, Counseling Psychology and Spiritual Direction. She is the current Chaplain and Executive Director of the Mental Health Chaplaincy. During the Companionship Training, Kae will introduce you to skills to engage less advantaged neighbors with openness, along with an awareness of limits and boundaries, thus easing the isolation their difficulties often bring. You will learn tools to listen consciously, with open awareness, to enable at least a momentary reprieve, and to encourage a strengthening for the journey ahead.
