Last night, we made history by performing the first symphonic concert ever in the shipyards of Gdynia, the birthplace of the Solidarity Movement that helped bring about the fall of the Soviet Union. Lech Walesa, founder of Solidarity and former President of Poland, was our concert’s honorary patron. The Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra continues its fight for the liberty of Ukraine with the revolutionary music that was created in response to oppression, from Victoria Poleva’s Bucha Lacrimosa to Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Минулої ночі ми увійшли в історію, виконавши перший в історії симфонічний концерт на верфях у Гдині, місці зародження Руху Солідарності, який допоміг спричинити падіння Радянського Союзу. Лех Валенса, засновник Руху та колишній президент Польщі, був почесним патроном нашого концерту.
