During the season of Lent, join us for a 40-day journey – the Social... Justice Bible Challenge. Together, we will examine some of the Bible’s most emphatic and powerful verses that command us to exercise compassion, treat everyone equally, and care for widows, orphans, strangers, and the poor. Every day during Lent, we will read a small amount of scripture, accompanied by a mediation and a prayer. We will gather each Sunday at 10 a.m. to discuss the Bible passage, ask questions, support one another, and share how God’s word is changing us. If you’d like to participate in the Social Justice Bible Challenge, please purchase a book (available on Amazon). Our group will gather at 10 a.m. Sundays March 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 in St. Peter’s School. Discussions will be led by Rev. Claire and Rev. Sarah. See More
Today is the Feast Day for Absalom Jones, who once attended services... as an enslaved man at St. Peter's Church and went on to become the first black person in America to be ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church and to lead an African American church (the The Historic African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas - AECST)
Set us free, holy God, from every bond of prejudice and fear; that, honoring the steadfast courage of your servant Absalom Jones, we may show forth in our lives the reconciling love and true freedom of the children of God. See More
