Today’s prompt for #MarchMeetTheMaker is *INSPIRATION *
I wouldn’t be wittering on at you now without the inspiration I found right here looking at the wonderful work of super-talented artists and artisans.
Beyond that, the beauties of Nature and Literature are endlessly inspiring 💚
I do have a spontaneous creative impulse, which sparks into life from time to time and results in a new piece or even a whole new way of are a few things that have triggered it:- ...stamps and envelopes, garden twine, holey shells, paper leaves, poems, vintage textiles, charity shop finds....

I’d love to hear what inspires YOU - do tell.....?! 😃

Received the most beautifully stitched letter 'E' and a postcard of Sue's amazing Jane Austin piece. The quality of the work is fabulous. Highly recommend her work.

I have just received my beautiful brooch and I absolutely love it. The quality of the work is superb. It looked stunning online and is even more so in real life.
Having seen first hand Sue's ...lovely workmanship when I received my brooch I had no hesitation in commissioning a further piece from her. To say that I am delighted with my finished Sherlock artwork is an understatement. Sue somehow managed to take what I had visualised in my head and transfer it perfectly onto canvas. The finished piece is utterly stunning. See More

Can you keep a secret?
I find it far too hard, so here are a couple of sneaky peeks at hush-hush commissions I’m busy with .... one just completed and one just begun 🤫💗💖

* Customers and Feedback *
The highest compliment possible is when someone wants to part with their hard-earned pennies to buy my work, and the icing on that particular cake is when a customer sends kind words back to me.
It is a particular privilege to receive a commission and be entrusted with a unique and significant brief. I’m working on three right now, but the only one I can share is the tree that features in this blogpost....
...And here is the glistening cherry on the icing of that cake.... the talented US textile artist who commissioned this tree is writing about it! (Link on her page
Jen has been so kind about my work....she calls it “weird” twice, which is utterly thrilling! Do follow its progress here and there! 😉

I have been so blessed by lovely customers during the past two years - some very special ladies in particular have returned to make repeat purchases - I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜❣️💕💗💖

Day 14 of #MarchMeetTheMaker is Plans and Dreams...
On my desk right now are at least six projects I really want to start on...and I have a long list of others in my planner.... but I’m too busy with commissions for anything new right now! 😱 Always planning and imagining..... my Dream is simply to have plenty more years to keep having more of the fun I’ve had since I retired! 😉💖
What about you, Frogstitchies...what’s your Dream...?

Happy New Week everyone!
Thought I’d give you a weekly update on the progress of my tree commission: slow stitching in action - if that’s not a daft contradiction!
The tree is destined for a forever home in the US; its new owner is blogging about it, which is very exciting!

Happy Mother’s Day to all!
Whether you’re a mum yourself; celebrating with your mummy today; thinking of your mum wherever she is, or revisiting memories of all those who’ve ‘mothered’ you or whom you’ve ‘mothered’, much love to you ❤️
I am very blessed in having both wonderful children and precious memories 😍
My Mum was a champion crocheter! She sat for hours every enening in front of the telly, working away....just like I do with my stitching now!
Please do share something lovely you remember about your mum.... 😍

#MarchMeetTheMaker is all about BRANDING today.
As you’ll recall, I’m currently wrestling with the notion of a rebrand, much as I love Miss Froggy 🐸
I drew her back in the 1980s, when I was creating purely cross stitch designs - her crossed legs, my love of frogs and conviction that ‘cross stitch’ and ‘frogstitch’ sounded similar were the reasons she was perfect then. She will always be a part of my stitching adventures, but I feel maybe she deserves a quiet retirement at long last! 💚
I think it’s time to put my name out front, and maybe have a new logo design, more aporopriate for my current work, such as........well, that’s still ‘in progress’ 😉

#MarchMeetTheMaker today wonders “How it’s made”?
So here’s how an Envelope Transformation happens...
1 - You find the perfect envelope for your writer daughter who loves Jane Austen, and the fabric to stitch it to.
2 - You add some relevant bits...quotations from her favourite novel, ‘Persuasion’, and a handwritten chunk of Captain Wentworth’s letter.
3 - You add the stitchery...basing some of it on a design from one of the stamps....
4 - When you’re done, you ask a professional to frame it! Thank you Kitty of The Banana Shed Framing Co.
5 - Hang on daughter’s wall and enjoy!

For Joanne Hawker Design & Illustration’s #MarchMeetTheMaker, today asks for a Flatlay, so here are some lovely green things. Not a minimalist, as you see!

On International Women’s Day, I’m admiring my collection of first day covers and stamps featuring some of my favourite women writers. It definitely feels like time to create another envelope transformation or bookplate piece (see comments for a couple of examples).

Which writer would you like to see starring in a future stitchery? ⭐️💖💫

Another postie delivery this week brought this wonderfully delicate and intricately gorgeous hand stitched 'Midnight Frost' tree, created by the lovely Sue Spen...ce of Sue Spence Frogstitch. I can't believe how tiny the stitching is, and I love the frosty sparkles. I can totally recommend this talented Textile Artist x
