Hello neighbors. At last night's picnic, a few people raised concerns about the planned taproom and restaurant in the old Bekins Moving and Storage (500 Carolina). I talked to the Planning Dept today and got some info.
1) A permit is currently under review (permit #BLD2017-0695)
2) The zoning for that lot is light industrial/commercial, which allows for the requested use.
3) The City will finish their initial reviews by 8/15 and then the applicant will need to make any requir...ed modifications and re-submit, at which point the City will have another 30 days to complete the next round of reviews.
4) Regarding parking, based on the square footage, the applicant is required to provide 21 off-street spots. He plans to provide 25.

You can check on the status of the permit process and/or provide comments or concerns by calling the Planning Department at 778-8300.
