I think there were some great things about sunrise, such as most of the people, and the things we learned. But there were many things that were disturbing. Girl...s screaming at night, banging on the walls, girls wouldn't do their chores and a great list of things. I would have to say sunrise did great things for some people but most of my friends it didn't help. For my personal experience sunrise helped my family while I was there. But the transition from a guided life style to freedom was hard for me and is still hard. A big thing was the staff for me, and how they would interact with us and most were good but some they just didn't belong in a treatment facility bc they acted like a child. عرض المزيد

The main thing I can say about Sunrise is that it saved my life. Without Sunrise i would be dead by my own hands by now, which is a scary and terrifying thought.... I learned to be confident and be myself. They taught me to stop being so stone cold and actually feel again, I learned how to get through my anxiety, depression, and OCD. Because of them i can say that I'm successfully off my medication, out of therapy, have some awesome friends, a great home life, and i'm pursing a technical degree. 5 years ago I would have never imagined my life would be this great. The staff and therapists were so amazing and kind. They really do care if you let them. Yeah it sucked sometimes, treatment will suck. You're a rebellious teen who thinks they know everything who is struggling with life, it's not going to be heaven. But, sunrise is an amazing RTC, it's safe and reputable. I would highly recommend it. عرض المزيد

My daughter spent 10 months at Sunrise when she was 13 (after two stays in psychiatric hospitals for self harm and suicidal ideations). She was there with the ...lovely four girls in the profile pic! The staff was extremely nurturing. Excellent communication - we had weekly family sessions via Skype as well as quarterly Family Weekends. While she is certainly not cured of her mental illness I think the experience was a good one. I just wish that insurance would have paid for it. She's been home for two years and is doing well and on track to graduate high school. عرض المزيد

Our family's experience with Sunrise was terrible at best. I felt that my daughter was mistreated and not helped at all. Her time at Sunrise caused more damage... to her mental health and to our relationship as a family. Communication with the staff was exceedingly poor in my opinion. I regret sending my daughter to the facility and would caution anyone considering it. عرض المزيد

I was at Sunrise and not once was someone traumatized or exploited, I know for a fact that many of the negative reviews are from residents who rebelled against ...the program, were unwilling to change, never took accountability, are highly immature, and are taking their misguided anger out on Sunrise. Sunrise saved my life, I would have killed myself by now and I've benefited from the structure, therapy, and groups. I rebelled too, but I took responsibility for it, the people writing the bad reviews have yet to take responsibility that they themselves were the problem, NOT Sunrise. Convincing friends--who never went to sunrise--to write negative reviews is a low pathetic move. Sunrise changed my life. I was willing to accept the help, it's a disappointment that others didn't and decided to focus their failures on Sunrise instead of themselves. Sunrise is a great program. Brad Simpson is my therapist, I've been seeing him for 4 years now, and I couldn't be where I am today without his help. عرض المزيد

My daughter is about to graduate from Sunrise, and has been there for a little over 8 months. This was her 2nd stay at a facility, and I've been amazed at the ...difference I've seen this second time around. At the first place there was family involvement, but not much education that went on for the parents. We had family therapy sessions, but personally didn't change much at all.

At Sunrise they focus a great deal on the transformation of daughter AND parents (and other family). I've come to realize that the biggest difference is DBT, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, which is used extensively. I have hope again, and it feels good, after being at the low of lows when thinking of the future for our daughter. She is confident in her ability to control her emotions, and ability to stay away from all of her previous negative behaviors.

I reviewed earlier saying I felt abused and exploited at sunrise. My review was completely valid and taken down. I think this demonstrates the level of dishones...ty this organization works with, and I will continue to write a new review every day if necessary. Like I said in my previously I felt both my mental health and drug problems were exacerbated at sunrise. My current psychiatrist says my time there is associated with my ptsd. No one should go there, and it should be closed immediately. عرض المزيد

Our family will be forever grateful to the staff at Sunrise. Our daughter spent 11 mos. there and came home in March 2015. She learned so much there--and so did we. Our learning was as important as hers, and we're all the better for it.

Sunrise saved me mentally and physically. I graduated in August 2014, the staff is what really helped. They pushed my limits and made me become stronger. Therapy was alright, but it depended on who you had. Definitely recommend this place. :)

My daughter attended Sunrise several years ago. I was extremely satisfied with the level of care Sunrise provided. I was especially impressed wit the DBT therapy as many residential treatment centers do not use DBT.

Terrible place, that hurts kids. I don't believe they can actually help anyone in the long term.

It is all about connection at Sunrise RTC. The client learns to build healthy relationships with peers and family alike. This relationally based program gives s...afe practice opportunities for girls that have struggled with connection in the past.

Another big part of the program is the outdoor recreation piece. With a certified and licensed Recreation Therapist, this program excels at using the outdoors as well as other forms of recreation to improve the quality of life of each student. It also gives them new tools to use when they transition home.

Sunrise saved my life 4 years ago. At Sunrise, not only did I learn who I am, but I also learned about my behaviors and their consequences. I am proud to say t...hat not only do I know who I am now, but I also have the skills needed to effectively manage my life. The staff here are all wonderful, the therapists even more so. You will NOT be dissapointed. عرض المزيد

Sunrise stands apart from other RTCs because the focus is on building healthy relationships instead of discipline and negative consequence. Therapists, teachers..., and staff work together to support each other and the girls. As a result, the girls trust the program and real change can take place. Everyone involved comes away better than before. عرض المزيد

Working at Sunrise was the best decision I have made. Building relationships on a daily basis and maintaining them even after the girls have graduated the progr...am has been such an important aspect of my job. The experience at Sunrise is positive for more than just the girls attending the program! عرض المزيد

What can I say, Sunrise/Utah has really impacted my life for the better in so many ways. Sunrise was my third (and final!) placement and it was amazing. Three t...imes the charm?
Sunrise has helped me create a foundation to continue with all life has to offer and it is my rock.

Sunrise offers so much in a plethora of ways. Academically, therapeutically, community/connection wise, and opportunities that you wouldn't ever think of. The energy tends to be very positive and accepting. Sunrise/Treatment, is not easy by any means though. It IS work, it DOES get hard, it gets scary, sometimes it is hard to see the bigger picture and it's hard to have hope. And it is ALL worth it.

The hardest/most frustrating aspect, is communication. Communication is a difficult task anywhere, and it does get confusing. Between treatment team, therapists, parents, staff, even students sometimes, communication can cause stress and very high emotions.

The BEST parts/experiences, were the opportunities I had. I never imagined canyoneering The Subway in Zion, AND having a little extra long adventure. I had the chance to graduate high school. After falling behind in academics twice, it didn't seem possible to complete high school in time (graduating class). I have created connections/relationships that I will NEVER FORGET, and I hold onto in my heart. Even with students I don't think I will ever get contact with again, I always hope the best them.
I know that my bestestestest friend, my favorite rock from Utah, supports me no matter what, and I for her.

ANNNNDDDD... CROSSFIT!!!!! Probably the best opportunity and impact ever. Jared J is an amazing health/P.E teacher (and that wouldn't be possible without the academic director either). Having such a unique health/P.E program has influenced me to live a healthy/active/positive lifestyle.
And CrossFit has saved my life. I have continued it while home and have come so far with it (PR's, lifts, jumps, but that is beside the point). As hard as home can get, crossfit is my rock as well. I hold onto it when my emotions are increased, when my depression/anxiety is tying me down.

Residential treatment isn't easy, it is a long AND worthwhile journey.

It's a great place to work and watch these girls change their lives! It's a great opportunity for me to be a part of the process and help the girls get better at life.

The family systems therapy that Sunrise uses along with skills the girls are taught can create long lasting changes. It's a wonderful thing to watch a young girl help herself become solid and sure footed and find joy again.

Most of you know our daughter struggles with anxiety. Because I teach at a residential treatment center, I've shared some with them also. One of my students ret...urned from a family visit today. While out she got a present for my daughter (a dream box) because I have shared that she struggles falling asleep. It was a selfless and thoughtful gesture from my student, and Jaylee's thank you note filled my heart with gratitude. My heart is full. #randomactifkindness #service #breakthestigma #sunrisertc
