A group of SUNY Cortland students created the Cortland Stars Special Olympics club in the fall of 2017, creating opportunities for local people with developmental disabilities to get involved in athletics. This afternoon, the Stars joined the Red Dragons' track and field teams and competed at the annual Cortland Classic track meet.

Two SUNY Cortland students who coached for Special Olympics in high school continued their commitment in college this year by creating a new, 30-student campus club that trains local special-needs children for competition.

So incredibly thankful to have attended SUNY Cortland. This school has taught me so much about teaching, the world around me, and about myself. Although I am heartbroken to have graduated, I will fore...ver cherish the memories, friends, and especially the opportunities that I'm not sure would have been offered to me anywhere else besides SUNY Cortland. I can only hope that all future Red Dragons find their heart and home in Cortland just as I did. ♥ #CState See More

It is a true art for teachers to actually teach in a standards based education system based upon test scores and papers at best- but the professors at Suny Cortland have proven to me that they will go... above and beyond for their students. It has been rough for me, however, to find any form of financial assistance and we constantly owe them $4000 to get in to classes after all of the loans, scholarships, and programs that I have spent a lot of time applying for. It is heartbreaking to take even 1 star off of this school after the faculty and staff have been so much help and the professors, who are extremely passionate especially in the Physical Education Department (Doctor MacDonald is a hero, and yes, I mean both of them) have gone above and beyond to help me, however, there is a flaw or 2 that must be addressed. The student life center has had some maintenance issues that took too long to resolve. 4 of the 6 The treadmills were broken down for 3 and a half months and it took too long to repair. The facility itself is gorgeous, but there does need to be a little more effort to maintain the facility. The meal plans are also extremely expensive if you want the unlimited plans ($2000 minimum per semester) there are 1 or 2 professors who I wasnt a fan of, but the majority of them were excellent if not world renowned. Their sports programs are VERY high achieving (Cross Country was extremely tough) and cortica is still as awesome as ever (minus the riot like parties that took place in 2013) the atmosphere of the dorms are cramped so if you want some form of solidarity, I would recommend the west campus apartments which are excellent. Altogether, I would give this school a 4.5 star review of facebook would allow it.I look forward to returning within the next 2 weeks to start a new and awesome semester. See More

Attending Cortland was probably the best decision of my life!! I love it here!! I love the environment and campus and all the classes and professors!! The people are all very nice. There is a lack of ...diversity and some race issues that have also happened on campuses across the country, but the campus community is working to address all these issues. The education program is great! I strongly encourage all considering Cortland to come take a tour and join our Red Dragon family!! See More

Went here one semester and hated it. the dorms sucked, people were annoying and all the same for the most part. Not much diversity at this school which is unfortunate and the parking is a joke. Took m...e 20 minutes to walk from my car (if i found a place to park) to my dorm. See More

I loved Cortland( class of,'60). At the time, it was a small school, 3000 students, 2 dorms, 10 fraternal houses, 2 classroom buildings but it was wonderful. Everyone knew everyone. The faculty went o...ut of their way to help you. The activities were so much fun.. Especially the Hellenic activities, sports were awesome..... So many fond memories! I haven't gone back but I follow the growth and I hear it is better than ever! See More

This school is a rip off. Sells more parking passes then there is parking spaces. Then tickets students that park in bad spots that are just trying to get to class. This school is set up to just make off students. Even the meal plans are a rip off. See More

Took the admissions tour yesterday, and in a word: WOW! I wish I were embarking on a college career instead of my son. It's his number one, and only choice. I can see why!
