Heartbeatmovement is a licensed non- profit social justice Grassroots organization in Ohio. We are the v...oices for the unheard demographic. DeEscalateOhioNow Campaign issues these proposals for justice: Mandatory DeEscalation Training, Mandatory Mental health crisis Interventions, Accountability, Transparency, First Aid, and most importantly Ending Qualified Immunity. Quality Immunity has hindered our communities with police brutality and death, and has been a shield against accountability with civil and criminal cases for those families and communities impacted.
DeEscalateOhioNow Campaign was founded in the pain of losing my nephew, Kareem Ali Nadir Jones (30) who was unarmed, in compliance, hands up in the air, and started running away from officers Samuel James and Marc Johnson, in fear for his life. After being shot multiple times in the back, he took his last heartbeat on July 10th, 2017. Kareem’s death was the first body camera footage to be recorded and documented, though the volume for the first minute as mute and the visual was covered by police five times to avoid transparency.
DeEscalateOhioNow Campaign, humbly asks your assistance in contacting your state representatives regarding Police - Related Legislation in 133rd OGA. History is watching, and together we hold the power, in making historical policy changes through our voices and vigilance.
We, on behalf of DeEscalateOhioNow Campaign/ Heartbeatmovement urge you to co- sponsor HB703- Study Police Practices, HB706- Police Training, HB709- Use of Force Database, HB710- Bias Policing and Profiling, as well as HB- Law Enforcement Database including those terminated or resigned. These bills will hold police accountable for their actions. Now is the time to end systemic, institutional racism, inequality and injustices that for decades, has protected law enforcement officers throughout Ohio. We must start protecting families impacted by legal Intervention/ gun violence with Qualified Immunity.
We have been denied justice for far too long! We have been denied any accountability on the part of those public servants who are murdering our loved ones. The dead are no longer here to speak for themselves so in honor of their legacy, we demand the immediate passing of a Public Safety Health DeEscalation Policy, unprecedented in History! This is the first step of true accountability.
During the largest civil rights movement in history , you can make a significant difference. We are asking for cash donations in order to assist traveling families, volunteers, concerned citizens, who are bringing awareness in all 88 counties, with transportation, rental vans, gas, food, lodging, justice strategies, promoting humane and effective approaches to police brutality as well as misconduct, air time, and printing documents / literature.
