The federal government's bill is striking in one respect: it actively allows a person to discriminate on the basis of their religious beliefs.

Thanks to everyone who toughed out the rain to come to the rally yesterday! Chuck us a donation on this fundraiser to support our work going forwards.
This is a fundraiser for Community Action for Rainbow Rights following their protest on the 8th Feb!
The LGBTI+... community is currently under attack from Scomo and his abhorrent agenda. 2019 saw Scott “vote no” Morrison spend months crafting the “Religious Exemptions Bill” that will push our rights back by decades. The bill will openly give bigots:
- the licence to discriminate, intimidate and degrade using "statement of belief" exemptions
- allow health providers to cut off access to treatments, especially those required by LGBTIQ people and women.
- give religious hospitals and charities new rights to discriminate in employment and service provision.
Since the victory of the Marriage Equality campaign, the Liberals have been itching to take revenge and the bill provides them this opportunity. The victory of the Israel Folau case is only the beginning of what this legislation will enable; aka, people in power will be able to discriminate openly and with the law on their side.
The bushfire crisis and tragedy only further conveys the disregard the current government has for ordinary people. The fact that Morrison was spending time crafting this bill, instead of meeting with fire chiefs to discuss how to prevent and minimise the damages of these fires is extremely telling. Scomo knew this fire season would be catastrophic, but he did nothing and let whole communities burn while he went to Hawaii.
Scomo has to go, and this extremely backwards and damaging bill must go with him.
That’s why Community Action for Rainbow Rights has organised a rally for the 8th of February. We are only community activists, but have a proud history of fighting for our rights. Most notably, we organised the huge rallies of thousands of people for the Marriage Equality campaign.
To continue to build these campaigns we rely on donations from the community. We need funds to print leaflets and posters, for facebook and media advertising. We need to have the resources to make this protest as big as possible. Scomo is facing a political crisis of his own making and we have to make him pay. This protest will add to the growing hatred of this Hillsong- loving bigot, so please donate to help us! Weiterlesen
