This used to be my favorite spot to get lunch, but i haven't been since i had my daughter last year. I went back today and was thoroughly disappointed. I ordered the same rolls i always have and they ...were less than half the size they used to be... and almost double the price! I asked for no avocado (it was lying uncovered and browned on the counter) and it was still added to my roll - when i pointed it out, the response i got was "it's good for you!". The ingredients bar was severely under stocked and did not have all the things needed for my rolls - the chef went in back and came back 5 minutes later with WARM eel. I was the only one in the restaurant and it still took 15 minutes for me to get my food and leave. although not impressed - i still ate my sushi, and not even 10 minutes later my stomach started churning & i'm now feeling super ill. on top of all this, the pop machine is broken, they do not offer soy sauce to go, and they don't accept flocktag anymore.

The tamaki we knew and loved is gone, it's now just another sub-par, overpriced sushi spot.

Went there last night and was so dissapointed. The new manager is awful. Cant believe you got rid of the great staff you use to have. Too much seaweed was showing on my roll and not enough rice. They ...were out of red pepper. Had barely any sweet potato. The guy was slicing the avacado super thin and when I said wanted more he said it didnt need it! What?! Not to mention other items they were low on...like cups with lids and soy sauce!? In the middle of doing our rolls he told the other girl to do it and walked away licking the leftover avacado in his hand! He needs to go! If ....If....I ever go there again and its like this experinece that will be my last time.
We also found out they arent doing bacon anymore?
Whole experience was pretty pathetic! You need to shape up or lose your loyal customers....

I used to come here at least once a week. The new owner has run the place into the ground! They have added "new rolls" that are the same size as the classics..but 3x the price! The sauce portions are ...horrible too. I got spicy mayo on the side and he gave me not even a quarter of a 2 ounce portion cup!! The whole point of those cups is portions! And to top it off my tempura fried roll took almost 10 minutes and was falling apart and THE OWNER still served it to me that way. Cutting a strong staff and Jacking up prices is not going to save you money..you're about to lose your business. See More

We used to come here about once a week and the staff was great, always quick, friendly and accurate service. A few weeks back, came in to a really long line, a help wanted sign and nobody we knew. We... didn't have time to stay that day. We've been back a couple of times and very disappointed. Service is slow, even the people who appear to be in charge don't know how to make the rolls
..and are taking short cuts (maybe thinking they are saving $$$???) I guess this is our last time here.

Went in yesterday for lunch. Unfortunately it's not even serving the food advertised on their sign. I looked at the menu that's completely different from a year ago. Tried to order a Korean bbq wrap w...ith bulgogi. The women seemed to not understand what I was asking for! I asked for a bulgogi wrap and she said there was no bulgogi. The only words she could say was "rice bowl? Rice bowl!" As though that was all she could make us. We walked out and went across the street to Aladdins. Can't believe Tamaki is even open with the way the service is. See More

Used to be one of my favorite places to go but when I went today the staff was wondering around like they did not know what they were doing and I, bein...g the only one in line and hardly anybody in the restaurant, got so tired of waiting to be acknowledged I walked out. When I first stumbled upon this place over a year ago, I absolutely loved it! I gave it a 5* rating and told everyone I knew about it. Then about 6 months ago, I went again and the service was ABSOLUT...ELY NOT THE SAME. It literally took 30 minutes to make 2 California rolls (the most basic sushi roll ever) and an order of tempura avocado. Literally, I got 3 tiny pieces of avocado and the girl had no idea how to do it so all the breading fell off when she put it in the fryers... and still served it to me. I'm not one to complain, so I paid for it still, but I was very disappointed since I paid a pretty penny for it. The employees here used to be so amazing. They offered different ideas of sushi rolls that you could make and really helped make the best experience possible and make sure you left satisfied. Now, everyone walks around like they have no idea what they are doing. They cut the avocado so small that you cant even tell its there. They have no idea how to make the soups (I didn't order it but the lady ahead of me did 1 day and everyone just looked at each other. They then through some things together in the back and gave it to the pour lady like it was soup).

I am so sad that the new management has run this place into the ground. It was such a treat before and I'm glad I'm not the only one that has seen the drastic turn for the worst. I hope things turn around and run back like they used to.

In the mean time.. Does anyone know of a good sushi restaurant in Okemos/Lansing. Thanks!

We went there for the first time last night and we were in line from beginning to end for 40 minutes there was one person ahead of us and there were four people behind us two of those people left . ...The two people working where the slowest workers I've ever seen . The food was good after we finally got it but I'll never go there again the experience was horrible See More

This isn't the same Tamaki it was a couple months ago. Serving sizes are smaller, they no longer participate with Flock, service was slow even though not too busy. I think they have changed hands and ...I wasn't very happy. My grandkids & I loved to go there but not sure about the future. See More

Used to love tamaki but now I get one match stick carrot one paper thin salmon slice one paper thin cucumber slice and not enough cream cheese to go from one side of the roll to the other. The new tam...aki portions are pathetic. See More

Came here a while back with my girlfriend she got me into sushi at this place and I loved it. They No longer carried bacon and the POS manager tried telling me I didn't need more avacado as he only pu...t a thin slice on it to begin with then they were out of alot of things disorganized and the manager walked away sucking on the avacado peel and didn't finish making mine or my girlfriend's role. I haven't been back but some friends that have tell me not to even bother so they obviously just need to close down because they are a waist of space at this point. See More

How fast this place has fallen apart. First clue 3weeks ago was the line to the door, with the help wanted sign on the door, and no familiar faces working. We walked out and went to blaze pizza. Secon...d clue two weeks ago super slow service and the staff was asking me what went on their specialty rolls. When I asked what happened was told the manager was fired. BTW never had a negative experience before these and eat here weekly. Today was strike 3. Super slow still, more new faces and messing up the roll taking it completely apart and trying to fix it without starting over. Ended with not even cutting through the seaweed wrap completely. Oh and all the serve yourself stuff now behind the counter because people steal the soy sauce??? Cannot dip your roll in your sauce because the cups are tiny. Whatever... I am nervous that with the direction the place is headed that food safety is also lacking. Not coming back. I will miss the old Tamaki. See More

I am a frequent customer at the Frandor location and the staff are always friendly and the service is excellent. The custom rolls are fresh and delicious and the staff doesn't hold back on requesting ...extra sauce. It's like the subway feel of sushi. The miso soup is good, as are the dumplings. The environment is nice for a date or just a family outing and the prices are reasonable. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves sushi. See More

I am obsessed with the Frandor location! There are such limited options for vegetarians at sushi restaurants in the area (they usually just three basic, very boring styles and act annoyed if you try t...o modify it), so Tamaki allows me to try something different every time. I am consistently happy with my choices and the staff's suggestions if I ask. The staff is always helpful and genuine. See More

In the last two weeks I've gone here 4 times. Its really good. Priced modestly for great food. The staff is really friendly and helpful. I love sushi but I brought some people who were apprehensive an...d they really assuaged their fears. Definitely will go again. See More

One of the best sushi places in Mi! Custom make you're own. Remember, sushi means rolled sticky rice, not raw fish, there are many options for non fish eaters. Check it out!

What has happened to the staff. I go there on a regular basis for lunch and the staff has changed. Not cool to insult customers on what they put on their sushi

Definitely one of our favorite go-to places! I have a picky 11 year old and he loves trying new combinations! The tempura avocado is wonderful, don't forget the white sauce!
