Nova Scotia Power

Our sister company Tampa Electric sent 19 power line technicians and two supervisors to help us restore power to customers. Similarly, our crews helped them out... following Hurricane Irma through mutual assistance agreements.

We’ve paired the Tampa technicians up with our line crews, so that they have the benefit of our knowledge of geography, equipment and safety procedures.

Here they are this morning in Sackville, all suited up with winter gear and ready to get to work. We’re happy they're here!

So far she has raised $864 toward mat...erials that she and over 150 Women Build volunteers will use to build a home for the Burton family. About Joy Mangano:

Joy began inventing at an early age but in 1990, after growing frustrated with ordinary mops, Mangano developed her first big success-- the Miracle Mop. After selling the mop at trade shows and in local stores on Long Island, Joy eventually made it to QVC where she sold 1,000 units on consignment. Initially its sales were modest, but once QVC allowed Mangano to go on-air and sell it herself, 18,000 mops were sold in less than half an hour. By the year 2000, her company was selling $10 million worth of Miracle Mops per year and today Mangano holds more than 100 patents for her inventions. Now, Joy regularly appears on @HSN and is considered to be HSN’s most successful purveyor and with good reason-- her hourly sales regularly top $1 million and she does more than $150 million in sales annually.

Joy has lead an incredible life and has proven herself as a fearless woman and business force, the incredulity of which was shared with the world in 2015. A biopic of Joy’s journey was developed starring Jennifer Lawrence as Joy Mangano-- a role which justifiably won Jennifer Lawrence the Oscar-- and as if that were not impressive enough, in November 2017 she released her book Inventing Joy: Dare to Build a Brave & Creative Life where she relives her incredible and inspiring journey to joy.
