Steven Spruell is our guy for this week's Felony Friday. He's got a... warrant for Forgery.
He cashed a check for a rather hefty amount of cash at a bank earlier this month. Everything looked to be on the up and up to the bank. However, as it turns out, the check was one of several that had been stolen from a local business the day before. Unfortunately, Spruell managed to cash the check before the business realized that some of their checks were missing, had a chance to report it to their bank, and froze their account.

We arrested Ronnie Willis early Thursday for Prowling on Private Pro...perty.
A little before 4:00 yesterday morning, we got a 911 call from a woman who lives on Palm Drive. She said that her security system had alerted her to someone in her back yard. On the surveillance video, she saw a man come through the back yard gate and then try to open her garage door. Thankfully, that door was locked so he wasn't able to get inside. After that, he went to the next door neighbor's yard to look around there. We found Willis walking away from the two houses moments later. After confirming that Willis was one on the video, he was arrested for Prowling and transported him to the Bi-State Jail.
Remember that your best defense against burglary and theft is to be sure that everything is put away and locked up. We know that sounds too simple to work, but this is proof that it actually does. When Willis couldn't get in, he gave up and left. While nothing is 100 percent effective in every situation, most criminals will move on if they see that it's going to be too hard to get in. They'll leave hoping to find an easier target somewhere else.

We arrested Ciara Trotter yesterday morning after her vehicle struck... an 85 year old man as he tried to cross Summerhill Road at New Boston Road in his motorized wheelchair. Trotter immediately fled the scene without stopping, leaving the man laying in the middle of the road.
Witnesses told us that the elderly man had waited for the light to turn green and was just starting across the road in the crosswalk when Trotter made a right turn off of New Boston Road and struck him. When Trotter failed to stop, one of the witnesses followed her to a nearby apartment complex and blocked her vehicle in a parking spot until officers could get there.
The man was very lucky. He only some minor scrapes on his knees and hand, but his wheelchair was damaged pretty badly. He was transported to Christus St. Michael Hospital for treatment.
Trotter was arrested for Leaving the Scene of an Accident involving Injury. She also had five misdemeanor warrants that were served on her. She is currently being held in the Bi-State Jail, where her bond was set at $15,000 for the felony charge - plus another $1,208 for the five misdemeanor warrants. Mehr anzeigen
