In Austin, Charlie Sexton is the man who needs no introduction. Seemingly destined for stardom since his early teenage years, the 49-year-old musician cut his o...wn path instead. Raised in blues clubs and launched into the pop-idol spotlight before he could vote, Sexton ultimately has built a life not as a marquee performer, but as a masterful force just beyond the focus of center stage.”

From Thomas McLendon, owner of The Big Easy: “The Late, Great Tommy Dardar left us unreleased vocals when he departed this world far too soon. This material has been produced by Tony Braunagel
with an All Star collection of Musicians. Tonight, a CD Release and Listening Party will be held at TBE at 7 o'clock. Following will be a reunion of Tommy's old band mates for a remembrance of the Man and his Music. We hope to see you there.”

"I've seen firsthand how bitterness and anger can destroy a person from the inside out. This song is about that, but also saying "I understand what... happened, and I'm sorry you went through the painful things that brought you to this point" Keep your heart free, forgive people even if they don't deserve it."

Long awaited CD by Tommy Dardar scheduled for release

“Big Daddy Gumbo” Tommy Dardar
The July 18, 2017 death of Tommy Dardar stunned the blues community and lef...t a void that will never be filled. His 1999 release, “Fool For Love,” served notice to the world what his family, friends, and fans had known for years, that Tommy was an extremely gifted songwriter, powerful vocalist and one of the finest harp players on the Gulf Coast. With his untimely death, many feared that release would be his last. He had begun work on a follow-up project in 2001, but financial considerations and life have a funny way of showing up and putting the best laid plans on the back burner. His closest friends and musical cohorts were aware of these unfinished recordings and undertook the effort to see that they were not left on a shelf to gather dust. Enter Grammy Award winner Tony Braunagel, life-long friend and musical collaborator, who took it upon himself to pick up the baton and finish the project in his memory. Nine tracks were initially recorded at Ultra Tone Studio (Studio City, CA) in 2001 around core musicians, Tony Braunagel (drums), Hutch Hutchinson (bass), Jon Cleary (piano), and Johnny Lee Schell (guitar). To complete the project more of his musical family were brought in, including Mike Finnigan and Barry Seelen (Hammond organ); Joe Sublett (saxophone); Teresa James, Tommie Lee Bradley, Terry Wilson and Larry Fulcher (background vocals); and Jimmy Rose (percussion).

This swamp masterpiece has been a labor of love and is now ready to be shared with the world.

Two CD release/listening parties have been scheduled for Houston.

Appropriately enough, the first event will be on Fat Tuesday, February 13, 2018 (7-9:30 pm), at The Big Easy Social & Pleasure Club (5731 Kirby). Some of Tommy’s closest musical friends will be performing in honor of this release. They include Tony Braunagel, Jim Fulton, Jimmy Rose, Phil Florian, Brad McCool, Barry Seelen, Skip Nallia, James Wilhite, and Tommie Lee Bradley.

On Wednesday, February 14, 2018 (5:30-6:30 pm) there will be a listening party at Cactus Music (2110 Portsmouth).

CDs will be available for purchase at both events and proceeds will go to family members.

Please help us share this information with all those who loved Tommy and his music.

They told her there was very little hope, but instead she made a very firm decision . . .

Though chances are slim, she knew the decision she had to make.
