Although I did partake in a middling, Chilean red (Calina Carmenere), I've been switching off of my red wine lately and coming back to cocktails. So, I must speak well of The Argentine Bistro's fun, p...omegranate infused, "The Eva Peron." I felt as welcomed into its smooth inebriation as if Madonna, opened armed, was cooing to my tummy, "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina, the truth is it's a luscious cocktail!"

But I digress. More importantly, the food: their lunch could pass for dinner at most places. It is just that good! I had a very Argentine experience there, as intended. I started with the delectable Argentine Salad, which was topped with an authentic chicichurri sauce. Then, I had the Argentine Panini... just wonderful! My date enjoyed the Ropa Vieja, so I stole a tasty bite of that too (or ten). It's the real deal, and unlike most Latin American cuisine, it draws on much more European flavors.

The place is run by Argentinian immigrants, for that matter, and their dining room feels like their home, finely furnished. Indeed, the waitress informed me this is largely an international collection of pieces from their travels. The Argentine Bistro is unusually located in an outdoor mall (the Crestview Hills Town Center). It might be the only thing there that isn't part of some giant, impersonal, upper middle class trageting chain (not that there's anything necessarily wrong with all of that that). In summary, this place is a pleasant, unique surprise in a sea of otherwise generic options nearby.

Ahhhh. The best kept secret in Northern Kentucky... We came to the Bistro tonight to celebrate my husband's birthday. After a long busy day and a late lunch we decided to just "do" wine and desserts. ...I love this place; the decor, atmosphere, and food; all a pleasing blend of class, casual, and cozy. Our server, Erin, was friendly, knowledgable, and I loved her outfit. Okay, that doesn't matter, but I did. She told us right away about the wine special for the night: $3.00 a glass for house wines. We ordered wine. ;) Hubby got Chardonnay, I tried a house red, very light and almost bubbly on the palate, a perfect compliment to the wonderfully sweet and indulgent bacon-date-ravioli that we ordered after realizing that just dessert wasn't going to cut it. Delicious! Then, dessert. "Oh my God!" may be sacriligious but there are no other words. The Tiramusu, my choice, was the best I've ever had. Light, perfectly sweetened, with just the right amount of rum and the cocoa dusting was just enough bitterness to compliment the Heavenly sweetness. My husband chose the Creme' Brulee, his favorite. Erin told us up front that it had just been finished and was not quite set. Set? Who needs set? It was wonderful! Creamy, rich, indulgent, what else is there to say? We had a great time, the only puzzlement being why, even on a Tuesday night, wasn't this place packed to the rafters? Tell your family and friends and strangers on the street about the Argentine Bistro. You will be giving them a gift. See More

Amazing fresh food. Super nice waitress and the chef came and asked how everything was. The price was comparable to Panera. I thought this was better and the cappuccino was delicious as well.

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of my retirement. It has been my pleasure to have built so many friendships and memories in this building. From engagements, weddings and births within my own family and all of yours. The "Bean" has been such a hub of love and celebration but it is time for me to focus on my family and grand-babies. I know you all will continue to support me and our family and for that I am forever grateful! Until we meet again I pray that God continues to bless us with the joy of friendship, love and celebration of life.

Much love, Lori

Oppose the DARK Act!

Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) has re-introduced the Deny Americans the Right to Know – or DARK – Act, which would block all states from requiring labeling of genetically engineered foods.

If Big Food gets its way and the DARK Act passes, the fight for GMO labeling is OVER. There will be no second chances.

...

Join EWG's GMO Week of Action and help us build a supernova of opposition right now to protect our right to know what we're eating.

Use the form to sign EWG's petition calling on your member of Congress to oppose the DARK Act!

As a supporter of EWG, I urge you to strongly oppose Rep. Pompeo's DARK Act, which would keep consumers from knowing whether their food is genetically engineered.

Consumers overwhelmingly support labeling of genetically engineered food, but the Pompeo bill would block states and the FDA from requiring labeling, codify the current failed voluntary labeling system and create a “review” system based on industry science.

The Pompeo legislation keeps consumers in the dark. I urge you to oppose it.
