A night of soul, r&b, funk, and jazz will take place during The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival when native... New Orleanian saxophonist, Donald Harrison Jr., takes the stage to play Wednesday April 30 at 8:30PM for the re-opening night concert at the newly renovated historic Carver Theater. The Carver Theater is located at 2101 Orleans Avenue in the Treme neighborhood of New Orleans. The concert is a benefit for The Southern University Alumni Scholarship Fund and The Guardians Institute book program. The Guardians Institute book program was started in 2006 and has given over 40,000 books to the youth of New Orleans. This special event will include performances by, trumpeter Christian Scott, The Bridge Trio, drummer Joe Dyson, bassist Max Moran, guitarist Detroit Brooks, pianist Zaccai Curtis, pianist Conun Pappas Jr, and The Congo Square Nation Afro - New Orleans Cultural Group. Don't miss Donald Harrison at the Historic Carver Theater April 30th at 8:30 PM. For ticket information call (504)214-6632 and (504)874-1137.
