We came to the Civic for the New Years prix fixe menu, but it was just okay. For nearly $300 in food and beverages, I was expecting stellar. The tagliatelle was al dente, which I enjoyed, but the peri...gord black truffles didn't live up to expectations. I think they were shaved prematurely and a little dry. The waldorf wedge salad was supposed to be served with a stilton dressing but it tasted more like a watered down, ranch yogurt. The décor was absolutely stunning though. Five stars to whomever designed the interior of the hotel. I might consider trying this restaurant again from a la carte, but not a fixed menu. See More

Went with my girlfriend for a few drinks in the downstairs bar. Got one drink and the bartender never came back to ask if we wanted another. Despite the fact only 6 people in the place. He spent enti...re time doing something with the fridge in the centre of the bar. Ended up only having one and had to wait for our bill after asking for it. First visit there. Not a lot of reason to go back based on first impression. See More

Met a group of ladies for lunch on a Monday at the Café section (downstairs). We had to wait quite a bit (about 45 minutes) for a table big enough to accommodate the 4 of us.
We mainly chose the pan...-fried trout, which was cooked just the way it's supposed to and delicious, but I was still hungry and supplemented my meal with a portion of fries, equally tasty (thinly cut and slightly salted). The dessert was less stellar, some canolli-looking pastry filled with what resembled whipped cream; not terrible but also nothing to regret not having :)
The waiters were all very curteous, friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely go back

Nice building and great reno. Went there 2 weeks ago, when they changed their menu. Meeting friends for drinks and bites - friend had a reservation. Asked downstairs -told me to look around. Went ups...tairs and recieved a friendly greeting from two staff in charge of seating - gave my friends name. Told to look around for her - really? Some friends were late - but we ordered and drank. They arrived we ordered more. We were there under 4 hours - 5 or 6 plates of food and drinks the whole time. Server seemed unsatisfied from beginning and wanted the table to turn over. Grabbed the wine glass as i was setting it down. I think we overstayed by 2.5 hours. Food was pricey and not that interesting. Fried Chicken best thing on the menu. See More

We stayed over night last night in room 302. We had to call the front desk after listening to New Years party that was very loud in the room next to us that over flowed into the hallway. Then watching... the same bunch fighting in the alley beside the hotel with more yelling and screaming. Very nice hotel but for the price ... very disappointing See More

The food here at Civic was just mediocre. Winter salad, bland. Rabbit, not tender and sauce sticky. Pasta (tagliatelle), not enough toppings, too rich and way under seasoned. Cocktails, high sugar, lo...w alcohol, high price. Beautiful space though, comfortable and good service. Need to work on the food though. See More

The food and service was good. Fries I've had before at Table 17. I was looking forward to dining at the patio however it's a first come first serve basis and cannot be reserved as I was told by the ...host. Sadly I wasn't able to take pics of the skyline from their patio. I was expecting a similar view from the 180 at Manulife Centre. I would have to come another time maybe next summer. See More

Yip its ok , ill go back in a year when they have their act together.Downstairs waited 35 minutes for a drink to be told your table upstairs is ready.Cant take your drinks so gulped those down didn't ...want ro loose our table.Arrived at roof top to be told " no we dont have a table its first come first serve so hover around d someone's table till they leave " Seriously? So 20 minutes later we get a table to cut a long story short 4 of us dropped 500 bucks , but here is the interesting part we watched everyone around us either drinking water or nursing the same drink the whole time we were there. My advice take bookings guys and make your venue a little more professional. It's chaos and ots a great venue we would all love it to succeed. See More

The rooftop bar has amazing views of the city and the atmosphere is very nice but the food is overpriced and please learn how to make a Old Fashioned properly. There is no excuse as to why a bar would... serve crushed ice in an Old Fashioned and still charge $15 for it. See More

The only redeeming thing there is the view....our drinks were horrible...I ordered a French martini. It was served in a champagne glass halfway filled. All of 3 sips and way overpriced. Our friends h...ad martinis that were served in small white wine glasses. These drinks were definitely watered down The service was horrible, the fries were soggy and the popcorn was a joke. Well good luck broad view hotel. We don't live in your country but let me tell you this would never ever be acceptable in the States See More

Trying too hard to be exclusive. Guys in black suits (clubby like bouncers). This is Riverdale for God sakes. Food - overpriced and meh.... drinks too expensive for Toronto. The building was re-vamped... well. It is quite lovely. The escort in the elevator to the terrace by a black suit was too much. Stop trying to be something that you are not. This is not LA LA Land. Torontonians do not need all this "exclusivity". We are fabulous as we are. See More

I love the spot...I just hope they eventually get the staff right. Attended the bbq on Sept 16 and watched people eating dangerously under-cooked chicken, The chicken might have been pre-cooked as the...y said, but there was still blood running from it. I don't cook and I still could have done a better job. :( See More

The view is nice and they did it nicely inside. The food is average but overpriced. The wines are ok but overpriced too. I would go again but mainly for their view especially later in the summer.

Food quality was sub-standard to moderate with high price tags. Beer & wine was over priced. Looks like the owners are trying to recover the cost of renovations in the 1st year itself. City view on th...e terrace was only good on one side. The other side had views of ugly warehouses, roof-tops and garbage/ hydro stacks. I don't even know why they needed bouncers at the doors. A lot of hype for nothing........ See More

Very disappointed. We were very excited as we live across the street. Went for a drink on the rooftop, which has a wonderful view but it took 25 mins to get our drinks. When they did arrive we were to...ld they did have chambord for the French martini or mint for the mojito. So they made random drinks for us without asking our preferences and we're not very good and my boyfriends was the smallest drink I'd ever seen. When we finally asked for the bill it took another 15 mins to get that. Not happy. See More

The building itself is beautiful, and the renovations look amazing. However, the place was definitely past capacity, the wine was overpriced for what it was, it took 30 mins to pay and we had to track... down one of the three servers on our own. The line up to get upstairs was about an hour long, and once you got upstairs all the tables were "reserved" but remained unoccupied all night, with a rooftop full of customers standing and bumping into each other. Not sure if I'll be back. See More

Just got kicked off the patio because they needed our table for a surprise reservation. No offer to find us an alternative, just "you need to leave in 20 minutes." We had JUST ordered a round of dri...nks and the wait time for a round was generally about 15-20 minutes. For a brand new place, even one with above-average prices, I'm willing to overlook some system glitches, but not outright rudeness to "guests." It made me and my friends feel like there were other customers who were more important (which was clearly true). I won't be rushing back to a place where I was made to feel unwelcome. The views aren't THAT good. See More

Specifically booked the rooftop on a rare day off because we wanted to sit outside and arrived to find that they had closed the rooftop patio and cancelled our reservation with no warning or notificat...ion.
I'll think twice about booking anything here again if this is how you treat customers.

Beautiful boutique hotel with a great roof top patio. The east end of Toronto has been waiting for a place like this. We had a few glasses of wine and a few appetizers. While not cheap, it's a great l...ocation and the staff was very attentive and accommodating. We had zero issues and will definitely be back. See More

Atrocious service and pretentious front of house staff- not a great way to start. I'd comment on the food and drinks but after waiting for 50 minutes with still no cocktail we left. I guess I'd try ...again in a few months when they get their shit together, maybe... but there are tons of other better places in Riverside with a more interesting crowd. See More
