We all want justice for George Floyd. We’re appalled by his murder. We’re all devastated. And—I know this is hard for people to understand—there are many of us who are ALSO concerned for the lives and livelihoods of people in Minneapolis that will be ruined by these violent riots. Punishing people for a crime they didn’t commit IS NOT JUSTICE. The next time someone tells you you’re callous for caring about both Floyd’s murder while also criticizing arson, anarchy and assault, show them this from the 1992 LA riots and remind them this will be the reality for Minneapolis, too.
