Like so many other bands who have stuck it out over the course of years in the name of survival, The Sweet Nuthin have m...ade rolling with the punches a way of life. Formed in 2011 by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Evan Charles, the band made waves with both audiences and reviewers upon the release of their self-titled debut EP (2012), with the Austin American Statesman affirming the record as “a strong debut” and Ovrld declaring that the band “[embodies] the essence of classic rock.” A year later, they joined forces with Grammy-nominated producer Chris “Frenchie” Smith (…Trail of Dead, Dandy Warhols) to record new material for what was slated to become their debut LP. A short time and a series of life changes later, the band entered a period of indefinite hiatus, during which Charles focused his creative energies in his then-newly acquired role as a full member of fellow local rock-and-rollers The Happen-ins, as well as in his role as guitarist and keyboardist for Nic Armstrong and the Thieves. Though the Sweet Nuthin would remain ostensibly inactive for the better part of the next year, Charles continued to write and demo new material, and in the latter half of 2014 reformed the band with a new lineup.

Throughout the changes of fortune, activity, and personnel, the band’s foundational creative principles have never wavered. Following in the ideological footsteps of The Rolling Stones, Faces, Big Star, and The Flamin’ Groovies, The Sweet Nuthin remain steadfastly dedicated to tight, driving rhythm, interwoven guitars, and concise, hook-based songwriting. Variously incorporating elements of Rock and Roll, Rhythm and Blues, Country, Alt-country, and Power Pop, the band has consistently aspired to stretch its creative limits in pursuit of an all-encompassing, genre-bending interpretation of rock and roll music.

Spring of 2015 will see the release of a new Sweet Nuthin EP. In the meantime, the band will continue to hone new material and once again establish an active presence in Austin.
