I really feel like in this photo Fiora is challenging you with her eyes. Another amazing shot by Narcissus Photography.
I learned so much during this build, new materials (plexiglass, LEDs, EL wire), new techniques (undercutting, electronics and soldering ), new skills (wig styling, make-up, using a jig-saw). I'm really happy with how it turned out and our photographer just makes it all look amazing!

J'ai vraiment l'impression que dans cette photo Fiora vous défie avec ses ye...ux. Une autre photo extraordinaire par Narcissus Photography.
J'ai beaucoup appris en travaillant sur ce costume, de nouveaux matériaux (plexiglas, LED, fil EL), de nouvelles techniques (undercutting de tapis mousse, électronique et soudure), de nouvelles compétences (coiffage de perruque, maquillage, utiliser une sie sauteuse). Je suis vraiment satisfaite avec le resultat final de ce cosplay et notre photographe ajoute une touche magique au personnage!

A bit of progress from this week-end. This is my fist attempt at making the basic structure of Reaper's gun. I'm still not convinced I'll use this technique. I want to try and build it out of EVA foam too and compare the results.
But we sure had a lot of fun crafting together with Akishuna 😊
PS: cereal boxes can be a useful material in cosplay 😝

Why make it simple when we can make it complicated and give yourself a challenge? Part of the fun I have when doing cosplay is to give myself a challenge each time. Adding some LEDs to the costume is one thing, but adding an Arduino board and figuring out how to build the circuit to control those lights was the real deal. Another challenge accomplished...! ^_^

Pourquoi faire simple quand on peut faire compliqué et avoir un peu de défi? C'est l'un des mes plaisirs lorsque je fais du cosplay. L'ajout de lumières DELs est une chose en soit, mais lorsqu'on y ajoute une carte Arduino avec microcontrôleur en plus de bâtir le circuit complet, ça complexifie un peu le tout. Un autre défi d'accompli! ^_^

'These step by step pictures give you an idea of how I built the shins. For the first time, I decided to use a zipper as a mean to attach the shins and it works very nice. Happy Friday to you all! Here's another beautiful shot taken by Narcissus Photography. We love new challenges and a night photoshoot was a first for us all. Since we had so much LEDs in our costumes and props, we wanted to take advantage of it.

Hey guys, look at this great explanation of the undercut technique from Cullen Cosplay. He also has a bunch of videos on youtube if you want to learn more. It's a great way to add depth and details to your foam armor.
We've started using this technique in some of our latest projects - specifically you'll see it in Fiora's visor, and neck piece.

Trying to do what I can to simplify this. It just takes practice and done on the bottom of the foam. Do not cut all the way through the foam.

1. Cut a strai...ght line and then a "v" cut next to it.
2. Glue and hold the "v" cut together.
3. Pull open the straight cut and fill with glue (or scrap foam). Hold open until it dries.

Then flip it over and then you will have a seamless layer.

'I find this skin pretty interesting and it wasn’t done by a lot of people, compared to her regular skin. I’ll try to give it a life of its own. Je trouvais ce modèle très intéressant et surtout très peu réalisé en comparaison avec le modèle original de Mercy. Je vais tenter de donner vie à ce projet.'
'I decided to begin my cosplay with the gun: it is a small prop with some complex features if you decide to add some lights (which I did). I printed a color version to see all the details and I did a blueprint of the weapon in black and white to be able to cut all the details in the different materials. J’ai décidé de débuter avec l’arme de poing: elle est petite, mais, si on décide d’ajouter de la lumière, elle peut devenir complexe. J’ai imprimé une version noir et blanc pour la coupe des détails dans les différents matériaux et une version couleur pour bien identifier les détails/reliefs de l’arme.'
'To build the gun, I used the following crafting materials: EVA foam and craft foam for the structure and some details, Worbla to add specific details and acetate color sheets for the lights. The LEDs have a circuit with 2 switches (1 regular on/off and 1 trigger switch), powered by 3 batteries to keep them running for a full convention day. J’ai utilisé mes matériaux habituels: EVA foam, craft foam pour la structure principale et quelques détails, le thermoplastique « Worbla » pour des détails spécifiques, ainsi que des feuilles d’acétates de couleurs pour colorer les fenêtres des lumières. Trois batteries serviront à alimenter les lumières DELs avec 2 interrupteurs (1 régulier « on-off » et un interrupteur de type gâchette).'
