Although we live in the greater Vancouver area, on my birthday we often stay at the Westin and attend a play at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. We have stayed at this Westin several times in the past and... have always had a pleasant stay (even when they were renovating) - but this time was extra-ordinary!

When we checked in, we joked with Christina at Guest Services that we had tried to park in the space that was numbered the same as my birthday, but it was reserved. We have a tradition of taking my picture beside the space number to mark the year! She laughed and said that space is reserved for their manager. My husband showed her the picture we took and we had a good laugh. She also upgraded our room to a suite (we are Starwood). That was a lovely treat!

When we returned from the play, there was a beautiful hand made birthday card in the room, a bottle of bubbly water and a small box of chocolates. I thought my husband had arranged it, but it was Christina who had given me the treat! I was very touched!

The next morning there was a letter under our door - again saying happy birthday! I didn't bother to read it right away, but after breakfast I did. We were surprised to discover that the hotel wanted us to know that someone had broken into our vehicle. Although the hotel doesn't own the lot, Christina had remembered where we said we'd parked and when she heard about the incident (at about 2am), she immediately realized it was us. The staff were so amazing, and went above and beyond the call of duty. Their engineering team removed the broken back window, vacuumed up all the glass, and very expertly covered in the window with cardboard and plastic. They even offered to pay our insurance deductible. Even though, right on our parking receipt, it clearly said that the hotel does not take responsibility for guests parking in that lot. I don't know if it was because it was my birthday, or if they are always this amazing, but Christina, Avery and Vanessa are all to be commended for customer service that went ABOVE AND BEYOND our expectations! Thank you for a quiet room, comfortable bed, and delicious room service breakfast!

If i could give them 4.5 i would. The place is awesomely located and staff are friendly. rooms are awesome. I was in one of thier suites which I had booked. The lift situation is the biggest downfall,... I got stuck in one for about 20 minutes. When i picked up the phone it rang for ages and no one answered. i clicked on the bell in the lift and it didn't work so i rang the hotel from my mobile. Lucky i still had reception. the lift finally opened and i jumped out. I used the service lift after that because it had a staff member in it. Just be aware. The lifts are dodgy and take ages. This hotel is consistently exceeding my expectations. When I travel for business I always try and stay here.. from the heavenly smell when u walk in the lobby, to the service to the rooms they never ...disappoint.

I highly recommend!!!

Great hotel, courteous staff, convenient location, and perfectly heated pool. The only complaint I have is that they have only 2 elevators for 30 floors, we waited 8 mins for an elevator that we could... fit into for our checkout. See More

We love staying at the grand when we are in Vancouver . Great customer service and always an upgrade with our spg points!

The only thing I can say and I have mentioned to the hotel is improving the e...levators.... awful, so slow and there is only two. Can get quite frustrating at times but if that's the only thing we have to worry about in our lives then I guess we will live! See More

Staff were exceptional, food was great at on-site pub, rooms were nicely maintained and the bed was wonderful as usual. Only concern was delay in getting food at the pub.

I think this is a great hotel, super location in Vancouver near hockey and football facilities, great eateries, etc. super staff BUT... they only have two elevators serving 31 floors. Do the math...fu...ll house for 31 floors - 2 elevators and no service elevators for housekeeping and food staff?? Rooms are terrific... million dollar views of the city ..... if you can get up and down. See More

Upgraded to a very nice room on floor 25 - not actually 25th floor as several floors "missing"? All staff we dealt with very helpful and polite. Like the idea of going green - choose not to have maid ...service one day, helps the environment, less power used, less chemicals, less laundry and get a $5 credit each day. See More

One bedroom suite was filthy was absolutely filthy on check in. Room grubby with broken fittings and chipped paint. Dusty and grubby. Telephones broken and not plugged in, stove covered in baked on g...rime, dust and food scraps all over carpet. Mirrors and glass covered with smear marks dust and finger prints. Fridge dirty. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels and I'm not generally someone who will complain, but this was extraordinary. Staff we spoke to went through the motions of pretending they cared but clearly were not interested. A disgracefully maintained and cleaned room. Stay here if you don't mind filth. See More

The Westin Grand is undergoing a renovation making for access and egress problems. But, the renovation does not seem to have someone carefully reviewing the workmanship for quality.

For example, t...he mini-suite we were in was poorly laid out, had plenty of dead space and used features that were too large for the space (The king bed was too big for the room. The shower was too small for the oversized hose for the wand. The vanity was too big for the bathroom.}

There was already mold in the shower. There is no reason for a tub in the undersized bathroom. The toilet paper rolls were too close to the toilet. And, the electrical is way too weird. We were there 3 nights and still hadn’t figured out all the electrical switches. The baseboards in the bathroom were cobbled together and were smeared with mastic…others were never cleaned properly after installation. And, the shelving in the living area was not tall enough to properly use the coffee pot. Oh, yes…the bench or nook in the living area will NEVER be used as a seating area.

Staff were gracious and helpful. However, when we checked in, the young lady behind the counter said we could go down the stairs in the lobby where she was located…15 feet away…even though it was blocked off with yellow and orange barriors.

I got a great last minute deal on Hotwire - $99 plus taxes. I arrived several hours before the 3 pm check in time but was able to check in early and was offered a room upgrade which I accepted. Room ...2901 is a recently renovated one bedroom suite, with a living room and queen bed. The hotel is under renovation (which is why I got such a great deal) so there is construction noise during the day (didn't bother me). Gym is basic but good enough, pool is nice, but outdoors. Restaurant is currently closed during renovations. See More

Great location, Preiya had the best room ready and was very helpful with directions as was all of the staff. she booked us a cab to take us to our ship. If you are taking the train in call a car ser...vice on Saturday night it took almost 45-60 minutes in waiting at 10:30pm at night, if we had booked a car service it would have been 11pm instead of 12am at the hotel. The room was remodeled and up to date. Tons of places to eat and explore within walking distance. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. See More

Nice hotel, nice room, great location! After a cleaning incident ( they forgot to clean my room), I was not very happy. It is not supposed to happen at The Westin. I spoke with the guest service mana...ger, and he really did everything in his power to satisfy me. I also received a note from the manager in charge of the room cleaning, apologizing for what happened the day before. They really took care of the issue. Great service! Thank you! See More

Special shout out to Christian Cochlan, Night Supervisor, at the Westin Grand. Early this morning I got to the airport only to realize I left my passport in the hotel safe. With not enough time for me... to return, Christian sprung into action, retrieved my passport and sent it to the airport in a taxi to meet me. I was able to make my originally scheduled flight with minimal hassle. I would have surely had a worse outcome had Mr. Cochlan not gone above and beyond for me. Thank you, Christian, and the rest of the Westin Grand staff. Please know that your commitment to customer satisfaction is deeply appreciated. See More
