Hey guys what's going on it's just with liberty and today we're doing a special live stream interview with Matthew see scaro one of the three Illinois gubernatorial candidates that will be going into the primary here this coming weekend on March. Third, how you doing today matt I'm doing great I'm very happy to be here with you joshua awesome awesome we're very happy to have you and hopefully we can get some good information out of your and and let other people of Chicago and more importantly, the people the libertarian party mill. You are and which stand for Yeah so watch as we like to do our show typically. We start out asking our guests little bit about what brought them to the philosophy of liberty and more importantly, the party, yeah okay so I wasn't always a libertarian. I used to consider myself Republican. I grew up in a conservative household. My parents were both Republican and I remember it was a told two thousand 14. I watch the video from Ron Paul is a compilation of all these debate highlights was called this video change. My life and that's exactly what it did. I Came you know just infatuated with the concepts of libertarianism. I realize that you know I was physically conservative, but I do not support foreign intervention. Is them. I got. I got really involved in the things like monetary policy about understanding the way the fiat currency works. The federal Reserve the irs and I just want whole hog into libertarianism and now I'm finding myself committing more into the social aspects and specially the things like understanding, judicial reform and and some of these for coney and laws that we have in America, that that just need a Abolish absolutely absolutely so much tell us first day in office, you you when your gubernatorial race where you gonna do on the very first day, you become governor of Illinois day, one begin rolling. My wrist because I'm gonna start party people day and night, probably for weeks on end, we need to end this for profit, prison system in Illinois. We are shipping people at the for profit prisons, non stop eighty four percent of them is for victims, crime. First time, picking this crime defenders. You think about that that's absolutely horrible so many party people I'm gonna return fathers to household sons, brothers, friends, family members, I'm gonna send them right back as you know, what it's not right to put someone in a cage was never heard Other person second I'm going to begin championing legislation that I wanna see past things like pension reform, which is desperately needed here in the state of Illinois medicaid reform, reforming the King 12 education in a way that we spend money on transportation, lowering taxes, property, tax cap. Here in the state of Illinois theirs uh. I could go on and on and on legislation that I wanna see past here in Illinois and the third part is that I probably every single day. I would use the office as a chance to educate people and teach them about concepts like jury nullification of law. You know those things that are very important so parting championing legislation and teach The public about freedom sweet sweet I'm also a big proponent of jury. Nullification. I think we've talked about this before how would you go about educating the people of Illinois in things such as jury, nullification well, I mean I think we need to take a historic understanding of of how you know it's supposed to be a part of our system right, a lot people don't understand that they're really we're four branches of government that were laid out in the constitution, although it doesn't exactly say that there's the legislative branch the judicial branch the executive branch and there's. You there's, you the tax payer the citizen um. You are part of the government and you were always specially On the government and the jury was always supposed to be there not only to just judge whether someone was guilty or not guilty, but to judge the law itself and if they don't have that power, that we do not have true. Uh jury trials here we take these corpus is essentially gone at that point and in my opinion, that means the lost of the Republic so so we have to change that. We have to educate people so I think that I get on Tv there and they teach about the concepts of um. What are your you know about how that was implemented In the early in the eighteen fifties in eighteen 50 days to the future of back, that aloud northern prosecutors and judges who had charged fugitive slaves and hopefully they wanna have sent back to the South and many times they would be murdered as a show to the other slaves. Okay don't run away where tell you or to put back in on it and people started about not guilty, people said whoa this is horrible totally immoral. I can't go wrong with this so people begin to nullify laws that they found a moral and the future slate back was one of the very first ones um that we it's too, because of this, because it's happening so often the judges the prosecutors begin the unconstitutional process of what here and it's very, very important and it was If you ever go on jury duty that process is going to sound something like that's the judge and prosecutor start asking you questions. Okay. Are you comfortable, putting someone you know into a cage no matter. What you know, whatever the Los s your job is to act. Looking on thinking conformist, it is not a time to virtue signal is not intended to tell the judge where to stick. It. It is a time for you to act like a sheep that's. What you need to do. You need to Africa shit and you get see the damage or because it is that it is only events that you can know if I do more law thanks nice actually. I think Very important thing for people here and I try talk about as much possible as well so up until it by the way, josh just whenever people talking about jury. Nullification. I was going on a bed of steel, that's important it's so important. The absolute I'm glad that you do um so were shows a little bit about your professional background and what led you to deciding to run for governor of moment. I'm a cereal entrepreneur. I started the company. I offer contract direct sales offices in three States so I am we have a lot of experience building teams from the ground up with very, very little capital and making businesses profitable and short period time I'm very good at managing expectations. man Angie goals meeting goals hiring firing um and I think a lot of these skills are gonna translate over into the public sector, say the elect. This governor currently, I own a Web and software development company, um track. We started out making just doing websites and our kind of putting more into um it's like software development. I just announce last week that we just finished customer relationship management program that I'm just so excited about and, yes, best what I do now in my personal life I've also uh. I did Its moonlight, as a mixed martial arts journalist, so I got a lot of experience with the microphone in front of the camera. I think I saw that on your facebook somewhere and I was shock you should train some myself oh so what what lead you to want to deciding that you know the governor race was the most important one for you to run. I don't. I mean I was gonna run for Congress and uh. You know I, I. I don't know but let me enjoy, like I got into this and I knew that that the state of Illinois in bad shape, I knew that and I knew that only a true libertarian protects it and so you know they are a cool. I threw my hat in the ring You're looking back um I, like the idea of more libertarians running for more elected positions. Things like state House, Rep or sheriff and but hey here I am and I'm very content. If I win the nomination Saturday. I'm content that I will do that that I can win. I can win in this election if they put me on the debate stage in spruce jd press. I will absolutely burley dismantle them good nice who think would be your biggest competition in that race myself That's the truth I don't think those guys come hang with me. I really don't I'm not trying to be erika here. It's just that I've study you know. I am a big believer in libertarians having hybrid candidate that they can get behind and I don't mean someone who's a Middle ground between Republican or Democrat. I mean one who understands politics the nitty gritty policies. How they gonna fix their their state. They understand the office and they mix that with some radical, libertarian philosophy and if we can do that, then we got some really really effective and that's what I focus on and that's what I am so I know that if the media puts a camera in my face, I can answer the difficult questions I can act like the politician right, but at the same time I could talk about jury nullification uh Um I'm steps yours libertarian at heart and I think the people have never heard the message of freedom and I think that's what I'm gonna provide. I think I'm actually click asside I'm just very, very confident that debate I'm gonna be them right and Illinois mostly Democrat controlled correct oh yeah Chicago socialist utopia right absolutely so, what would you do to reach across the aisle to the bring those people who believe in those socialistic ideals to two liberty in the life that is individual sovereignty yeah of course and By the way so this is a mistake. I used to make where I will reach people on the right because I thought what we have so much in common already that um we don't be is to pull them over but the truth is that so many Republicans are already libertarian like in our heart they're already small libertarians we get someone elected to a waterfall they're gonna come on over. We need to call from the left. We need to pull from the most uncomfortable members of society and right now that is the black and Brown community, because they are the ones who are the victims of the racist drug war and if we can explain to them how the drug war is And how, first La was a lot to take away guns from blacks write me. If we start explain those types of things that pull over the minority vote we're, gonna wanna drops we're actually gonna dominate and that's. I think what I can do. Nice price, so we're should early on that there's three rhetorical candidates running for the lp nomination. There in Illinois. How is the dynamic between the three of you. I, like the guy I mean we go at it hard. You know we're very competitive with each other. The thing is that me and the two others were all kinda out of email in and away and so we're very, very competitive with each other. Personally, I, like them as competitors. I'm here to actually to store them in and when right right have you guys had some debate, fill the debates of young and I think it's subjective beat them every single time you know, even johnny cash I've came up to me yesterday could great job I think you won and running if you go I can listen used debates, the one guy cash Jackson eat say something you know yeah let's right yeah man hit in the head oh yeah. He knows what he's talking about. We literally the guy the guy just can't help, but parent me. I listen to these guys non stop. We just repeat the same things that I say time and time again, so I beat them every single time we get on the stage with the mighty for pizza and that's that's exactly what I'll do against the first ride, nice, nice, so outside of you know, debate skills and and your your passion for liberty. What principles, as far as libertarian principles do you feel that you hold up That makes you a better choice for the libertarian party than the other two candidates. Well, I'm the only one who's actually proposed anything that has not been proposed by Republicans and Democrats quite literally. My two opponents have only ever pose very uh polluted philosophy from from like okay let's legalize marijuana. We hear Republicans and Democrats saying that I'm saying legalize all drugs so and that's something that's very, very different for me um. You don't getting like ideas about uh allowing Illinois to trade internationally is something that my opponent would never ever touch with a 10 foot pole um concepts of like reforming health care and Allowing for a free market healthcare that something that I can make a never talk about um that mean that those a million things that I could go over here, um kicking out the rest of the state of Illinois yeah, just things like that. So yeah. I mean I definitely I'm a big fan of state the location along not just during election state office and well so I am not writing johnny cash. I just don't think they understand those concepts. You got your so if you mention that you mention a little bit about the black and Brown community of especially, of Chicago, there um definitely affected by By the socialist iq policies, more than they even know how we actually actually have a calming about it in the drug war and stuff what do you think you can do to show that community that liberty is actually the way to get rid of these policies and make a better life for their communities and the families. I think I think they're just they understand they have their from the post a little bit closer than that. A lot of people in my community to friendly and look I'm not here to play some racing but I'm just telling you guys it's the truth if, if we say that the drug war isn't races we're lying to ourselves right 70 percent of these prisons are filled with minorities and and Eighty four percent of its for first time victim's crime, offenses it's it's absolutely and they also have racist beginnings. Uh Harry and singer um said that marijuana had an effect on the degenerate races. I mean it's it's horrible the first the first drug law in America was in San Francisco. It was against it was against opiate um um and they were concerned that the Chinese were gonna go after the White women in its Christmas and crazy man. These drug laws that actually grow test history and it's gonna stop so I mean I think, that's one big way Talking about party um men, women, children who have been convicted, these crimes and, after their last life destroyed and they don't hurt anyone else. How we're gonna bring it back to the community. That have a clean record. I think that that's a huge thing to I think that's uh message that that a lot of this community to get behind merced us so shift to something that libertarians really need to hear about all the time. What kind of steps have you taken to run a successful camp campaign, as governor for the state of Illinois well, I The travel all over the state of Illinois events of a 75. Eighty percent of the chapters here in my state and we have a big state. Um and I travel over three times over the state. So I've been going around talking to people. I recruited a lot of people to the state party I've help grow least chapters um. I spread a message of libertarian purity and I also bring a very professional image the libertarian party at the words that come out of my mouth sometimes are are a bit radical, something that you might next You're all the time, but you know, like it's the way that I present myself obviously I'm always wearing a suit whenever I go on stage, I have no very nice business cards. Good literature that I hand out. I have a beautiful website that actually says the word libertarian on it um and you know I think it's things like that. It's it's the way that we communicate our message it's not so much about how many people that we can get. I mean it has to be quality too right so I try to. I try to focus on the quality of my message nice, nice so You know, for libertarians all times we wanna run. We wanna first getting the Wall and hope that it sticks and and a lot of us know we're not gonna win, but we we run anyways um. What do you think are the most important things that a hopeful candidate can do when they're setting up a run at any office well, number one uh. You have to understand your office. You have to understand what you are running for your duties. Your responsibilities. You have to have real Solutions solutions that the general public, another head and say yeah that makes sense, rights. We have to be able to do that. Also, you have to be able to have uh been ability to communicate for you and if you're not a good communicator, then it's gonna be very difficult so I think those two elements are very important. You should be able to grow team uh people that you trust and you struggle to raise some money and I think that those those three things are what people need to focus on yeah money is definitely important things for our our races there's There's no joke no doubt about that have you done very well raising money in Illinois as a libertarian have you found that people are more apt to give you some money to help you all. I haven't even ask anyone for money. Yeah, although I was gonna save this for Saturday but um I have pledged, if I do on the nomination million dollars I've been pledged million dollars, so I don't matter to candidates and able say that, thanks I'm actually this on your on your camp on your so here hey hey it's a good show Yeah but um I got a million dollars coming my way. If I can. I'm getting donation I'm start if I get the nomination and we get on the ballot. I've been guaranteed. A million dollars so I don't think John cash and I'm able to to match that. But as far as asking libertarians and my friends and my family for money, no, I haven't done that yet and investors because I don't think it's fair um, I don't think it's right and soul. I earn this nomination to go around and and to ask people for their money I've self funded this, my entire the whole way and and I and I have the ability to put in considerable amount of money to once I earn the nomination um from here, so Um uh once that time comes so you know, I have the pieces in place. I am ready to do some massive fun. Resin necklace so we have 13000 followers from thank liberty and many of them are in the party and many of them are not in the party and they have no idea how the process works so you guys is the state of Illinois state convention is cut this coming week and where they will pick the nominate the nominee to run for governor in the general election. Can you tell our viewers how that process were Works yeah so we are not recognized as a major party here in the state of Illinois. We Ford because we have gotten five percent in um a bigger collection. Yet so we have our state convention it's. We call it a primary but it's it's not really a primary and we just have a business meeting and people have had about registered as a libertarian for a considerable amount of time and they can come physically have to show up and and they can vote and then we bought all our candidates and uh whoever gets it then we have to be in petition on their behalf, so uh that would be the next step and then and then Well, get on the ballot and we will be on the ballot because we did last time and I will do it again. This time because, before you can larger and I think people are um even more motivated. How many signatures doesn't require. 25000 and look you know. I said that we need to get far far more than that. Our goal. I think they said that they wanna get 60000, but I mean I hope that that's I hope they go for more than math, because the Republicans and the Democrats generally challenges in court and they try to get us thrown off that out so a gubernatorial race for Illinois getting five percent in that race would Allow you guys automatic ballot access going forward from the whole ticket down absolutely for every office in the state of Illinois. Yes, it, what so you don't you understand how important this races of course of course that's why it's my opinion, that we shouldn't gamble here with candidate so put the foot in mouth multiple times and made themselves look horrible again and again in the public eye put out someone who can talk about freedom and keep someone as a solutions here and I think the people of the state of Illinois party or smart enough to do that right also lost That's pretty much all the the written down questions. I had for you today do you have any events or anywhere. You wanna send somebody to website or facebook page or any of that good stuff. Yeah. I mean definitely check out my facebook page. After alright, my name is Matthew see scaro I'm, a libertarian running for a little bit governor the Republicans and the Democrats have failed. You time and time again on a macro scale the Republicans the Democrats have raise your taxes. They taking away your civil liberties and they from your family members into jail. There is only one party that stands difference the baby only one party that juxtaposes and that's libertarian party that is why represent we are physically responsible. We are socially tower. We are the party Most closely follows what our founding fathers fought and died for. We have a maximum freedom party follow me vote for me. Let's change Illinois that's making myself again.
