Re elected in your home district, as books included in the fit other revolution in manifesto and uh liberty to find the three like and share because you know, throw working Americans for liberty and working with young people. Um those are the three books once we do have people into the full and there ask questions like Larry said when they start to push back and really try to dive and understand what these principles are all about. Those three groups of distance from reaching people uh I don't want to spend much more time you guys are here to hear from me, but this person really is in my mind the godfather of the liberty movement and uh. Probably calling to mentor and somebody that really is a great friend big round of applause Dr Ron Paul Thank you. That's good to see cliff again. I do see it on freedom, medications. Now working with my L. I told class a little surprise to see you here. I'm glad you're here, then you probably don't have to bring the resume. I could say, but uh I'm very glad that you're here, but I've also gain a given an excuse. I said you know you've heard this before so if you don't wanna hang around the year they'll be okay, but anyway I'm delighted to be here at ideas uh. I do talk about the same issue. All the time and the issue is very, very boring it's called Today Time and there's, my wife about the decision, even with hear me quite frequently and uh. I should tell me, would say to her isn't the same stuff over and over again. She said yes in a way, it is but usually it comes out a little bit different. Each time. So that issue is liberty and it is important and it isn't where exactly where I started and I started with more economic interest that just the big picture so I, like to think that I've learned along the way I became Fascinated uh in the seven days uh dealing with monetary policy and I was introduce to that subject from the 60 's, because I came across your Street school of economics and the foundation for economic education and they were predictions that came true in the 70. 's. A impress me soul and decided you know I'm run for run for Congress just to speak out. It was in watergate year was the best year for Republicans and at that time there were three Republicans and all of Texas so you know, as a Back at that time, so that was when I was very, very busy at the medical practice which I love doing and uh so I went to my wife, paralyzed and you know I think I'm gonna run for Commerce and her comment was we wanna do that for sense. It uh as well. You know I you know that interested in this monetary issue and we were having inflation. They have high impact racing waiting price controls. It was very, very chaotic and she said no. She says uh it's a dangerous thing to do. I said what do you mean it's dangerous. I know she wasn't in too many Conspiracies and uh she said it would be dangerous. She says you're going to get elected, but let me tell you insured and I believe that deep down well, it's not that's not. What they think. I mean that's, not the basic bolt. The basic goal is just to get a few things off my chest. Nobody else seems to be paying attention or talking about what I wanna hear so I'll just do it at the gym and information she said you're gonna get elected because the people are sick and tired of hearing the lies and I don't know you're telling the truth, even if you don't sign my Santa claus So uh I ended up going to Washington. I think sometime. It was sort of our sort of an accident and I had to contend with that because I was at the Washington and I had to go and uh. I did my very best didn't stay long because uh I am still dennis medicines. I was there for two terms and then, when I went back, but the interest and monetary policy was uh very much on my mind, back down and I got fascinating The whole idea of Central banking and the federal Reserve and I don't know what they've heard. I didn't come to the conclusion about the federal Reserve that not only should be on the sorry we should get rid of that. whatever Do you think about monetary policy and printing money enough secret for the whole world, not just for United States. They're just not messing up I'm gonna make everything is based on the fiat dollar and right now I believe the world is living with a time bomb and finance. It with the financial problems that we have fear that the history of the world, I believe the Bowl is is that yes, we have all the way we've had depressions and we had corrections in the seventies. We have in 19 in the year two thousand and two thousand eight, but I think I think the stores with them and investment and especially the death, is worse than ever And one of the main reasons why we don't make a whole lot of progress in Washington, as we have two groups out there, it seems to give us trouble about any type of reform and others and the Republicans and the Democrats I made a reason to because they both believe in Democrats, could you believe, seems astounding as they campaign on balance budget cotton spending and the debt that you know in the eighties that we're supposed to have a revolution. We have a conservative so call conservative except for spending and uh. What was that we had and uh President out of uh as concerned everything but we're spending in trillion dollars a year. We don't have a next year too is gonna be two trillion dollars a year that's. Why. It's not a bold prediction to say that this He's gonna come down on our heads and it's gonna be nice and the reason why we should be concern is not only a threat to the financial stability of this country and world to me. The main problem is a threat. Horses are our to our liberty's and uh. Then, once you get into this involved by free markets and sound when you find out that uh the whole issue is not just economics, personal liberty is something else first delivery raises the question who are waiting where we come from who has he has every where do we get our liberty's, but one thing for sure the government doesn't give us our liberty. They do more to destroy. I am liberty's That anything else and that's why I believe we should have a lot less government to start off with at least a production of 75 percent and then we're on our way But the but the atmosphere in Washington is such that that's not going to happen in courage. People to get involved in education and politics and run for office and all these things, but also come down on the side response best in the state and we're, not going to next year and enough people to vote right and suddenly back on spend less money Princess money reduce the deficit, not gonna have not a chance in the world, then. Why do I do this. Why why do you do it if you're suspicious and we're not going to have a one at all So do the right things it's because the whole purpose is to explain to people what's going on what is lacking. What we have to do because it will come down and we're gonna have an opportunity. Instead of fearing it. We should say line up, find out why answer if this fiat money doesn't work, maybe sound of money that would be a good example. Maybe getting rid of the federal Reserve is a good idea. Maybe maybe getting the government out of economic plan, it maybe restoring liberty to the individual will be the answer because we will have That opportunity and uh that that is the big question and that is our responsibility. We have a group here tonight. Many of had before, but I didn't know about your group and protect her, but there's a lot of activity like this going on so it's much better than a lot of people think a lot of people are writing about it. The libertarian moment it's over and done with. I don't think so. I think it's just finish But uh liberty is all about. I think the problems that we have will mean that we have to do something about it. We have to replace it. You can't to say what is have another conference and teacher with the federal Reserve policy and it's gonna work our way out of it know there will be a resolution of the things that we have to be most concerned about. It is the debt is unsustainable and it's so unfair the system that we have today because when they government destroys its money under my somebody in place, the money in the patches the current se desperate does it destroys the Middle class. We hear a lot of talk about culture Our system in the competition between the rich and the poor, how capitalism the nature, many people to bridge that's a bunch of well because there's, a lot of people who are very racist because I work hard and I deserve it. But there's a lot more who made a lot of money because of chronic capitalism and they've been working like this in the government and get the benefits from the government and it's gentle Reserve system that's what we have to go after It is the sign of the gets as far uh in de hit van problems economically and Paul and the problems of foreign policy and silver days. It means they don't have the understanding of the importance of the individual. I think the individual is the key to it. We don't have uh. She said. Freedom is from groups of people, one thing that I get turned off behind is saying well with district uh. This group you know whether, it's gay raise or sexual brings whatever uh you know. Think, women Price annabelle you have one tiger rights and, as an individual rights and it should be able to everybody in and that is what is important people don't think of it. That way, but the individual is so important, but you know uh. I think that this whole ever in the problem and understanding is such a new idea yeah there's been a history around her. Several thousand years, but really civilization has only at things him recently here in the last 200 years, probably 90 percent of everything that we experience is just been developed in the last 200 years on the last year Thinking about what's being developed in this up and in this century but this development and movement means that there's, a lot of technological developments it's a wonderful but it's one thing that we do. We develop and produce things technologically and what I see as the greatest harm is so much of that is taking it gets in the hands of the government and its yours to my floors. Why don't we advance to the next days for civilization se technology, understand they could advance the other way and use it to promote peace That's what we need here And I think the American people wanna and the people of the world wide but because of the demagogues and uh the people who control the media and the propaganda uh people who are convinced that you know only as strong, great President and can take care of it and we have had so. I willing to stand up to the enemies the enemies coming there in the bahamas. I heard so much in my efforts to try to stop the Iraq war in Afghanistan and all these places. They said that we had to go because the argument was with him You know there and we have to praise our military and have a bigger military are bigger than this budget passes. We bigger than ever before and guess what the reason is because they're going to go over there and protect our liberties and protect our constitution. That is so absurd. How does fighting an unconstitutional war, protect our constitution doesn't protect really And unfortunately, they don't understand the word that I like to use of our stuff and we talk about roles and Progressive and conservative and libertarian, but what I like to use in political uh political discussion is the word of non intervention. Ilike non interventionist ilike on intervention I told somebody Western the campaign that I'm not sure they like what I said, because I'm running on what I don't wanna do I don't want to run your Your life I don't want to run your gonna, get oh how and I don't wanna tell the country how to run their business other person. I want to just mind our own business That we could cause the importance of the individual um the individual has a right in this life is in her life. Total life do what they want does that mean well. What, if they don't wanna help, but if they don't want to help promote our cause well, they have to follow two rules to have liberty. We will not have infection me and then uh mankind to still have her in perfection, but in order to make progress and society have to have all the tools. What is of course you're, not a lot of commitment, aggression against anybody ever That means you and I can't commit aggression against our neighborhood. We know that, but hurry anybody in Washington knows that should apply the government if you and I can't do it, you can't steal and counterfeit money. Why do we allow the government to do it that's more only actually worst because it's such a powerful force when the government is violating this principle and using force to manipulate and maneuver other people the other thing is that you uh in society a lot of people have been uh difficulty understanding this and accepting it and that is the issue of tolerance. You know well, if you're gonna give liberty people to run their So as they say, some to choose, they can do anything they want when they to abc Campbell warn all the. What if they do, those things that they don't. They should be doing. It well, that's what you said, but if they're not gonna hurt anybody and do any harm anybody else is none of your business and feeling You have a wonderful thing about liberty and the principles of liberty is that it brings people together now and this gonna hands. We come together because I think it has been a basic understanding. Your already well, along and understanding what libertarian society true society is all about. What about the people you know that don't you understand what we're talking about and uh and liberals are gonna real destiny, church I'm gonna be on it, but they understand the principles of liberty. Why should the audience be very, very close Limited because you get this use, your liberty anyway, you want. We don't expect people to follow the dictates of the government on our spiritual place. It has in the past one thing that I disapprove up the most is mixing uh government and generations the opportunities I think are horrible and I'm a believer, but I think the opportunities are just really really bad and uh yet if you understand liberty, you Alright people no matter what their relationship as long as they follow roads and not using force to promote what they believe in. So people can uh have any religion. They want and they can pick no relation have one and there will be a lot of people that want to participate. I don't worry a whole lot about people who don't participate as long as I call the roles as long as they don't news violence and tell me what to do and uh I would say that uh the people who should make the choice that you bring people together but the problem is governments Been around for a long time to gather in and pulling people who are the authoritarian who know what's best, they know what's best for real and socially for behaviors, for the people and they know what that economy come economy free market economies on periscope they'll be rich. People and that we poor people yeah like today wouldn't be nearly as bad as it is today, is intervention is a that makes uh makes it makes the problem um you know my sander spooner band point where uh you know have this uh It's an breaking the heart can everything if, if you uh, if you fall your habits in their to your the, only one hurt that's up to you. That's not a crime. So smoking and drinking and doing anything is also hurting. Other people. Your personal habits or your own it's not a crime is when you give it to somebody else. This is hard for people to understand because there are so many do gooders out there that want you to better big day. I had members of Congress might frequently come up that we were voted one way and not be putting on another way would have a casual conversation You know this isn't gonna work as tell people to do what he said. Yeah but I gotta support this because you, the people, just do that. We need to take care of and they believe that well, why the only reason I think there's, some stability out there, as we keep sending people like that to watching their So we have follow this interventions and for away to long it's gotten much worse on foreign policy. We now have an empire. Our empire really it was initiated by winner of Wilson, is coming worst ever since it's been especially bad in this century and uh unfortunately, with something that happened, we should have been the greatest event and was a great event. I consider one of the most important things in the twentieth century was the downfall of the marxism fallacy in apartments and you know I said it You can be confident in the direction that failure that is a wonderful thing that happen the worst thing was as we gathered up the pieces and to vote the empire and uh that's where the problem is so I know especially when I talk to, if you're, a conservative audience and Republican audience and I would frequently get it well Ron you send appeal make animation yeah. We like little personal time, say, but you can't bring the troops home. I mean what you gonna do. We have for one 400000 overseas we have, we, we have our territory to protect and uh it is protected. It's only protecting the financial interests of the deep state. That's what it's doing had nothing to do with protecting your liberty's. It's a violation of your memories because they have to tax you and in faith currency to pay these bills and to try to run something that camera one thing that's good that's happening. These days in these last several weeks and months has been the loss of credibility uh with our government interference Over other seeds, so I would like to see more of that because we don't need to do this. I think, when we go and tell people what to do and we use sanctions and threats and and throw our weight around as a system is insecurities and what it is. We are very confident with ourselves. You know what we would do is we bring our troops out when protect our country and uh. I would make it so that weld would be more evenly distributed through the free market economy. We could protect that on this uh currency and we will become very well Can you imagine it. We follow the rules of Hong Kong did when they there you will see in this a communism throughout the world. I mean we can be a gigantic uh new home call and being a true example. It could be the greatness of America. We really have something to be proud of and something to be spread. That we went spread. It like gun. We would spread my seven example when people say wow was Americans have put it together. They honor and respect liberty. They mind her own business. They have been involved in the war for a hundred year that would be Michael I'm civil liberties, uh, I believe we've made great progress. Uh because I've been involved in finding the war on drugs for a long time and uh. I was amazed with amazon in office at first, I brought the subject up. I will get our brain is libertarian and a director issue with a big issue for me and then I decided 96 that I would run again and I run and I said I know what's gonna do they're gonna hit me on the drugs he wants to give drugs to kids and and all the nonsense. I don't know so that's exactly what happen The very first press conference on my announcement in 19 it was 95 and make the announcement drugs through our struggles and at that time I had told the Republicans. I was going to get this Democrat I've always had become a Republican for you and help you get the Speaker and and but that didn't work because two weeks later, they can did it and they convinced they city congressman, a Democrat to become a Republican and I didn't want to be back again and the Republicans that ran against me. They spent over a million dollars A lot of money and a primary having a primary back, that and they one of the one issue, the driver, Ron Paul, is for his age. I guess priority he's he's program. This thing this is being nasty as everyone and then uh the uh general election when I'm running as a Democrat, they did the same thing. They just couldn't believe that an individual like myself could not be opposed to these Dr laws and uh. It didn't hurt did her and I was a little bit surprised I was very pleased because I thought how can I get away with this. I mean I wanna go out and talk about this issues. I kinda get away with it because uh I this is the bible belt that I can listen to this, but it became a non issue and my assumption was that during that time, over the years back there in the sixties and seventies, a lot of families for destroy and all the kids were destroy young kids put in prison and still today they're still trying to do that so I think the people who are way in the government, I think we as the libertarians and people who have been opposed to the war we have Great progress, uh on the drug war and getting rid of it. Uh in spite of the sp, you set that authority have you know, with this administration, but uh I think that has been one of the most serious causes of attacks on our civil liberties and I think this is an example of a success story and the sooner we get rid of these. Dr laws, better
