TAKE ME TO THE RIVER, an international artists’ collective nonprofit founded in 2001, is collaborating on a unique project with Uruguayan artists which is scheduled to open on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 7-10 pm in Montevideo at the Iturria Foundation. It is an unprecedented event for both groups of artists. The Uruguayan Ministry of Tourism has declared the project of “National Interest”.

This innovative project is a collaboration between 9 members of the TMTTR cooperative and... 6 Uruguayan artists on the theme of water titled INMERSION. For the planning of this work, the 15 artists have divided into 5 teams of 3, combining artists from both groups in each team. Since the theme of water is the basic component, their virtual exchanges of ideas and images had a basis on which to expand concepts and mediums from painting, digital prints, photography and video to create a blended concept.

The TMTTR artists arrive 10 days ahead of the opening to work in the Taller Salamandra Studio together with the Uruguayan artists as an ensemble to complete the triptychs. In addition to the triptychs, each artist will exhibit one or two works in their individual styles. The culmination of their interaction in Salamandra Studio will result in a single, large-scale modular artwork featuring the integration of all the artists’ creativity as a collaborative group.

URUGUAY ARTISTS: Ignacio Amorim, Gustavo Genta, Lizzy Marinos, Rogilio Osorio, Analia Sandleris, Felipe Secco

TMTTR ARTISTS: Mary-Ann Beall, France, Joan Belmar, Chile, David Carlson, U.S., Eglon Daley, Jamaica, Richard L. Dana, U.S., Judy Jashinsky, U.S., Ivanna Panizzi, Brazil, Betsy Stewart, U.S., Mansoora Hassan, Pakistan.

Take Me to the River added 12 new photos to the album: Embracing Summer 2013 — with David Carlson and 3 others.

Yes – We are embracing the season of Summer for as long as we can! Our collection of images from the Summer of 2013 continues to expand, and we want to share the additional photos with all of our friends and fans! This season has been filled with exciting “individual” adventures for our Take Me to the River artists, who have explored a wide range of sites (both far away and close to home) including Biarritz and Nantes (France); Ibiza (Spain), Kalabrien (Italy), Zanzibar and... Tanzania (Africa), Istanbul (Turkey), as well as the Adirondacks (New York), Dog Island and Summer Haven (Florida), Lake Michigan (Illinois), and many other places. The range of our activities span from participating in conservation efforts and protecting (or admiring) wildlife to relaxing on beautiful shores. So here is another set of images that were captured during our adventures. (We hope you will share some of your water adventures and stories with us, too.) Enjoy!
