Some great tips to prevent water damage from the large amount of snow we’ve had
TIP OF THE SEASON | Just a quick heads up to all valued homeowners.
Given the large amount of snow this year, if a long Chinook rolls through, the quick and su...dden melting of the snow can cause water ingress into your home.
This is especially true if you have poor drainage due to negative slope, crushed or missing downspouts, a cracked foundation or clogged weeping tile in window wells.
It is important to be prepared. THINGS YOU CAN DO NOW
* Clear as much snow away from your foundation as possible; 4-6 feet.
* Clear the snow and any debris out of your window wells and if possible expose the weep tile in the crushed rock (black drain pipe with orange cap).
* Ensure your downspouts are down so water can flow away from the foundation.
* Take the time to regularly inspect your basement during the snowmelt looking for any signs of water, common areas are below windows especially if weep tile is plugged up. If you any water is found, further investigation may be needed.

Yikes! We found these non IC rated pot lights in the wood chip insulation in the attic at our new job. I am so angry that the person installed these without th...inking of what the consequence could have been for this unsuspecting family. Now they have to replace over 30 of them on their main floor.
