Calcutta to Benefit the Bissonette Fields
Another exciting Bissonette Fields fundraiser is just a few weeks away. We hope you will join us, and special emcee Rahn Fleming for a Calcutta at Cedar Knoll Country Club on Saturday, April 14th at 5:00 p.m.
If you're not familiar with a Calcutta, it's more or less a knockout game. Each ticket buys you entry for two, a Calcutta ball, dinner for two, and two drink tickets! A cash bar will be available the entire evening. As the evenin...g proceeds, balls will be blindly drawn. Each ball drawn is eliminated until we reach the final ten. THAT'S WHEN THE FUN BEGINS, with horse trading and deals as we determine if the prize money gets split or if one lucky soul takes it all. Consolation prizes will be awarded on the 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th, and 90th balls drawn.
Only 99 balls are available and tickets for this great community event are just $75. The Hinesburg Recreation office is closed for vacation so please contact one of the people listed below to reserve your spot.

Sidewalk Plowing Update - We ask for your patience as we work to clear the sidewalks during this latest storm. The sidewalk plow has been challenged by the wet and heavy snow. We will continue efforts today to get to sections of sidewalk missed. Meanwhile please plan alternative walking routes until this storm passes. On a positive note… only 5 more days until Spring!
WATER STATUS UPDATE (3/01): For Users South of Town Hall Only: The Precautionary Boil notice requires 2 consecutive days of negative coliform analysis to lift. In order to make this major inconvenience as short as possible, my staff sampled an hour after the repair and rushed sample 1 to Endyne, Inc & paid extra for rush analysis. We also sent in sample #2 yesterday am, also paid Rush. At 4:21pm yesterday, Endyne, Inc called and left a voicemail that their incubator had faile...d overnight with our Sample 1 in it. While no Coliform was detected, the sample is technically invalid and must be redone. Our resample is on the way to the lab currently and should be available tomorrow (Friday am), at which time I will give Official Notice to the State and lift the Order immediately. Thank you for your patience on this matter. - Erik Bailey, Hinesburg Water
WATER SYSTEM UPDATE: Attention Water Customers SOUTH of Town Hall -- A boil water notice has been issued. This notice is for customers located SOUTH of Town Hall ONLY. The boil notice is expected to be lifted by Thursday (3/01) following repair, disinfection, flushing, and coliform sampling on Tuesday and Wednesday.
WATER LINE WORK TODAY - Today (Tuesday February 27th) the Hinesburg Water Department will be repairing a broken water line in front of Hinesburg Community School.
This may require the temporary interruption of water service to water customers South of Town Hall, with the exception of Lyman Meadows Condominiums, which will be unaffected.
If a service interruption is required, it will be kept as brief as possible, and a precautionary boil notice will be issued at that time for ...this area.
Thank you for your patience as we work to provide the best water for our customers.
WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTION (Thursday, 1/18/18) - While working to repair a service line on Mechanicsville Road near Hawk Lane this morning the water main broke. Water service is currently shut off to the village, including Mechanicsville Road and Pond Road. The crew is actively working to restore service to the village. However, it may take a couple of hours or more to restore service to homes and businesses on Mechanicsville Road and Pond Road. Thank you for your patience.
"Baby, it's COLD outside" - Water System Advisory
Hinesburg Water System: Especially Lyman Meadows, Manufactured Housing, Buildings without Basements, or old Stone Basements.
The weather has turned frigid, and promises to stay that way until the middle of next week. This can lead to frozen water service pipes and busted meters, making a mess in your home and leaving you without water....
If you fit one of the descriptions in the opening statement, or have had a freeze-up in the past, please consider the following tips to prevent an emergency and very costly repairs:
- If your meter/water line comes in an external utility closet (Lyman Meadows), please add an electric space heater to that space and ensure the door is closed tight and there is not a visible gap at the bottom of the door.
- Ensure all siding around the base of a Mobile Home is secure, blocking the wind, consider UL listed heat tape on the water line between the ground and the floor of the home.
- Block all drafts/fix broken basement windows, and insulate pipes in cold locations. Consider UL listed heat tape in cold locations.
- During extreme cold weather consider running the smallest stream of water that will maintain itself continuously in 1 faucet of your home. Running water resists freezing.
If your line/meter does freeze, call the Hinesburg Utilities Dept. at (802) 482-6097, unless you live in one of the Consecutive Systems (LLL, Sunset Villa, or Mountainview) that purchase Hinesburg water, but maintain their own systems. In those locations, call your landlord/property manager to repair your service.
Stay warm folks!
- Your friendly local water crew.
