Use Emergency SOS on your iPhone
With Emergency SOS in iOS 11, you can quickly and easily call for help.
If you ever feel unsafe, press the lock button on your IPhone 5 times in a row and a screen will pop up with SOS Emergency SOS. If you swipe the SOS, your GPS will send a ping to the nearest police station and an officer will be dispatched.
The Mayor and Board of Selectmen are sending a big Congratulations to the Putnam Business Association for a wonderful, successful Fire & Ice Festival in Putnam this past Saturday! There are also sending a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this another "Don't Miss Event" in Putnam!
As anyo...ne who has put on an event or party of any size, you know planning is key.
Kudos to the Putnam's Fire & Ice Valentines Festival 2018 committee for working very hard behind the scenes to make this happen.
Thanks to the sponsors who had their names in front of so many visitors.
Standing O's to the artists, professional and novice, who came to carve the ice!
Members of The Putnam Business Association opened their doors and served meals, drinks, desserts, coffee, chocolate covered jalapenos... they bagged unique gifts, they entertained!
With all the preparations, any outside event depends on Mother Nature. She cooperated much better than we expected, and the mild temps did not chase off too many even as the drizzle and rain drops fell.
This album is dedicated to the folks that hit the streets before 7am the morning of the event and got things set up.
Without volunteers, events don't happen.
Thank you from The Putnam Business Association to our members and community for always stepping up and saying yes.

As soon as the TWO trucks of ice blocks and sculptures arrived from Ice Matters and their talented team, we scooted around to get a few shots of the ice sculptu...res and artists before the crowds closed in.
We've seen TONS of photos from those that attended, and thank you all for sharing.
The crowd around Sasha the Fire gypsy for her entertainment at 5 and 7 pm was immense, so we stepped back and let our visitors enjoy that. (Hence we don't have any photos to share of that.)
BIG THANKS to all the sponsors of the ice blocks, carving teams, artists, and pre-carved sculptures. What a way to show yourself off in front of so many sets of eyeballs - and now all over social media.
Take a look at some of the fun, then keep your eyeballs on Discover Putnam, Connecticut for lots more community events all year long!
