We'll miss the place where half of our band got food poisoning right before our show at the Old Brickhouse and vomited on stage.

The restaurant south of Talking Stick Arena is no more.

Brett's Album Rating 5.3

When Tom asked me to review this album by his former band, Troy's Bucket, I was both amused and confused by the idea. First of all, it's a ska/punk record. I really, really don't listen to ska, and the "punk" that I do like, most true punks would refer to as "bullshit for wankers." So, naturally, my enjoyment of this album is a pretty mixed bag. There's a few songs I truly like quite a bit: Before You Go is undeniably fun and has a great swing to it, Pseudo-Girl sounds like the would-be single from the album, Walking Backwards has a jazz-age swagger that I love, and Irish Girl embraces Irish stereotypes in a way that I simply have to celebrate. There's a lot to like about Troy's Bucket - if you're a ska fan. As a non-ska fan, I don't always appreciate the songs, but I can certainly appreciate the musicianship. While listening to this album, it's obvious that each musician is quite skilled. There are awesome bass solos, drum fills and double bass kicks (in ska!), some fun guitar bits, and a doozy of a horn section. I don't like the vocals, but I'll chalk that up to musical taste. Even though I'm not a fan of this style, I'll bet most ska and punk fans would find something to like here. Judging by the recording, Troy's Bucket probably would have been a blast to see live, too. Guess we'll have to convince Tom to do a reunion.

Sorry everyone, but we had to cancel for the Toasters show. Our drummer Justin has left us for a job in San Francisco. We are trying to find a replacement, but we will not settle for anyone who isn't up to our standards. We will keep you posted.
