Love this place, I'm a land owner inside the refuge, been hunting this forest many many years have harvested many deer here. To me its still the crown jewel of Louisiana. .. the staff is very polite a...nd helpful, just do you part and obey the rules and regulations and enjoy some of the finest quality hunting in the state. ..last of the great wide open hardwood swamp... The only problem I have is that they need to revise the ATV tire regulations. My stock tires are 26" with non agressive tread pattern well under a 1" lug, but being 26" makes them not leagal. I have s...een people with 25" tires that have twice the agressive lug pattern as mine. Just hoping this will catch someones attention or enough ppl agree to maybe get it looked at !!! See More

I would like to start a petition for the elimination of squirrel/dog season until after the second lottery hunt. It's not fair to the deer hunter that has to pay to hunt deer. By the time the second l...ottery hunt comes dogs have been running them for two weeks. This year I went in on Friday to scout, and had some squirrel hunters nearby. A black bear ran up on me within about five yards and we were in a stare down. The hunters started shooting a 22 about ten to fifteen times and the bear ran off,( kinda scary.) The squirrel/dog hunting on the refuge has already made it dangerous and hard for the bow hunting. See More

Making Memories part 2

Posts

Photos from the second Staff Guided Youth Hunt have been posted. THANK YOU to all the volunteers who without you these Memories would not have been made. THANK YOU to the parents and guardians who took the time to bring your children and let them experience what many children do not have the opportunity to and for supporting and encouraging our future generation to appreciate the woods and animals that we have been entrusted to take care of...THANK YOU for allowing us to share in these Memories!

Yesterday was the Staff Guided Youth Lottery Hunt, and what a great day the kids (and volunteers) had! 1st BBD happened at 2 minutes after shooting hours began! Many memories were made with several "1st deer" being taken. Congratulation to all! A special shout out goes to all the volunteers. Many took the day off from work to give their time and experience freely. The excitement in the voice and eyes of the child and memories made make it all worth while! If we didn't get a picture of your child's memory from yesterday (sorry, I was unable to be at the evening hunt) please feel free to share with us...we'd love to see them! We will be publishing the album of what we captured soon.

This weekend is the December Lottery Hunt. Good luck to everyone who was chosen. There have been some really nice ones harvested so far and this weekend looks to be the best yet! Be safe and have fun!

Heads up LADIES!
