This place is total trash. I was admitted and spent 3 days here where they did absolutely nothing for me. At 2 seperate times my heart rate droped down to below 30 while I was sleeping and they still ...sent me home knowing I had not electricity. I was told they have the most resources when it comes to things like that but the social worker was so nonchalant and uncaring. I understand I have a terminal condition but they acted as though I was a lost cause health wise. They never went over any test results with me and released me without explaining why my heart rate dropped so low or anything else. I think they milk the people with Medicaid and Medicare and focus on people with "real" insurance. See More

Saturday September 9th I was in a serious car wreck along with my 7 yr old daughter and 20 yr old daughter. I chose to ride in the ambulance with my 7yr old to children's mercy and after knowing she being cared for and ok and my husband had arrived, they called truman to have me transported to be seen. They took xrays. Told me I had a fractured sternum then did absolutely nothing. No pain meds , nothing. Several of the nurses were out right rude. I kept trying to call them into my room to get cared for and when I told them it had been 5 hours since my accident with no pain meds, the nurse proceeded to tell me , " well just so you know everyone is in another room with someone dying so you should wait. " seriously? That wasn't my fault nor should I have been made to feel that way. No one checked on me all night, no pain meds again all night and when I tried telling the morning nurse that she told me I was being rude and uncalled for. They ended up finally writing me a prescription and released me with no doctors note for work, no instructions, no referrals nothing. I wouldn't EVER recommend this hospital or ER it was the worst experience ever especially after having been through a traumatic car wreck. See More

This place is a shit hole. Doctors wrote in my profile what is wrong with me and what's causing my pain but in person they tell me nothing is wrong and that I shouldn't be in pain. I confront them wit...h what they write and they just stare blank faced and continue to say nothing is wrong. That's called lying. The staff in the ER openly mock patients, forgetting the only thing separating them from the patients is a curtain. This place is a shit hole and every worker, and doctor, that I have encountered here needs to be fucking prosecuted and have their medical license stripped from them. This place is a grade a DUMP. May you fucks rot in hell. Also, if you have a complain, guess who resolves it? The doctors who are in charge of your already shitty care. This place is right out of Franz Kafka novel. Disgusting bastards. See More

I had my daughter here September 15th at 11am. My delivery was great loved my OB Dr. Mou, and great nurses. But I had a infection after delivery so they too my baby to NICU and I didn't get to feed he...r until 8pm which made her blood pressure drop low and they gave my breast feed only baby a pacifier and caused latch issues. We were in the hospital for 5 days and never got updates on when we would go home. Just a terrible NICU. See More

December 27th 2016 had a bunch of teeth out and not only can dental procedures be terrible, but I have anxiety to top that off. Oh and they couldn't put me out because of by breathing problems. But D...r. Silverstein and his nurse were awesome! They did everything they could to keep my mind occupied and off the surgery that was going on. They had me hum Christmas carols while they guessed them. And before I knew it surgery was over. See More

On February 27th, 2016. I delivered a beautiful set of twins(boys) at 35 weeks. One of which had a 12 day stay in the NICU. Very happy with the care he recieved while in there as well as my other son ...and myself. Through out my pregnancy I was high risk due to preterm labor and the babies sizes. Now almost two years later my boys are perfect in every way. The nurses that cared for me before delivering and even after were amazing. I may have yelled at a couple and the anesthesiologist because i was in labor and it hurt. Even through that they were all still nice and understanding. If i have more babies, i hope to deliver at hospital hill again. See More

Not only am I a nurse at Truman Hospital Hill but I am also a patient here. I delivered all 3 of my children at TMC HH. I ended up with preeclampsia each time and delivered all my children preterm. I ...know that I received the best care possible and that was comforting. My nurses were hands down THE best! They advocated for not only me but my babies too. They celebrated every milestone with me and even helped encourage me and bring my spirits up when I would get frustrated. (Life is hard during a long term NICU stay!) The nurses made a very exciting but very trying time in my life better with the way they go above and beyond their call of duty. See More

My son has been in this hospital for two weeks with gun shot wounds ...the first week they were great but the last 2 or 3 days several of the nurses have become hostile and even refuse to give him hi...s medication on time...they do not need to be in the Nursing profession.... See More

I was supposed to see the neurosurgeon. Drove almost 3 hrs for them to tell me in the room after I waited over an hour that they ACCIDENTALLY put me in with nurse practitioner. So I talk to her she'...s telling me that my Mri is fine and I look at the report she's reading the one from 5 years ago instead of the one I had 3 weeks ago. She doesn't even know what 2 of my diseases were. She shouldn't be practicing See More

My husband has been sitting in the ER for 3 1/2 hours haven't seen a nurse once a Dr. Came in said his strep test was back. Suppose to start an IV with pain meds and antibiotics. 2 hours later with ca...lling the nurse button 3 times with no Answer the nurses sat and giggled with 1 nurse "Bert" on his phone. I went out and asked 4 times before going out to proceed to tell
Them we would like to leave due to lack of their care. EMS made a joke about "marking meth" as an allergic reaction. While everyone was laughing. I feel this was the most unprofessional experience I have ever had. We are needing to get back to CMH and yet we are being held up.

UMKC School of Medicine added 5 new photos — with Cody Braun.

A dozen students with dozens of roses brightened Valentine's Day for patients at Truman Medical Center. The students, members of the UMKC School of Medicine's c...hapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, delivered the roses along with Valentine's Day cards. The activity is part of National Patient Solidarity Week, which like the honor society is promoted by the non-profit Arnold P. Gold Foundation. Dr. Carol Stanford has been the UMKC chapter's faculty sponsor in recent years.
