Hello Jim Nintzel, Jason Joseph, and Brian Smith (email address unknown),
regarding your April 5, 2...018 Tucson Weekly cover story, glorifying "Golden Boy" Andrew Perez, all of you should be ashamed of yourselves. A better subject would have been a human interest story about the life of Jacob Lee Wyckoff, not a 4 page glorification of someone who deserves no glorification whatsoever. You have portrayed Andrew Perez in a sympathetic light, a poor choice for your newspaper, regardless of whatever twisted justification you may have come up with for printing this pathetic excuse of a story. Everyone deserves a second chance. This is not a legitimate portrayal of such a story. I hope this man, with the numerous chances he was given, now living life in a most violent "sport", glorified by you to impressionable kids and fans of MMA, doesn't kill another person, with his car, or his bare hands. You did get ONE thing right though about this story - Perez had one hell of a good lawyer, certainly earned his $40,000. It's a shame The People of Arizona (Prosecuter's Office) apparently didn't have the same. The Wyckoff family deserved more.
Shame, shame, shame on all of you. I'm a regular reader of your paper, but this really crossed the line. I wouldn't be surprised if you lose some paid advertisers over this one. You owe the family of Jacob Lee Wyckoff a sincere apology for publishing this story.

I'd like more substance. I have fond memories of Tucson's amazingly good City Magazine. But these ...are tough times for local papers that must work with what they have. I'm grateful for the cultural coverage. See More
You owe the family of Jacob Wyckoff an apology for your glorification of Andrew Perez. He committed ...a hit and run resulting in Jake's death and you're running sympathetic stories him? Disgraceful. See More
