Tusculum hosts high school cross country meet on Thursday, Sept. 20
Approximately 200 high school cross country runners will converge on the Tusculum College campus this Thursday for the Tusculum Invitational. Girls and boys teams from 10 high schools will compete on the 5,000-meter (3.1 miles) course with some of the best teams in the area taking part. The girls’ race begins at 5 p.m., followed by the boys’ meet at 5:45 p.m. Admission is free to the public.
Local teams Chuckey-Doak, Greeneville, South Greene and West Greene will compete alongside Dobyns-Bennett, Sullivan East, David Crockett, Cocke County, Grainger and Madison County (N.C.).
Thursday’s race will preview the course that will host next month’s Food Lion South Atlantic Conference championship, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20. The venue will also be the site of the Blue Ridge Athletic Conference high school championships on Thursday, Oct. 18.
