Another week has passed and there's no way to celebrate the arrival of the weekend like watching yet another Vimeo-video. This time it isn't shot by us at Ubique Magazine, but by HYPEBEAST TV for their segment Modern Day Artisans. This 5 minute video is directed by Chris Read and features our favorite jeweler Little Duffy at Duffy Jewellery. To see more of Little Duffy check out www.duffyjewellery.com or make sure to read our interview with him on the 2nd of April:

Beyond Stockholm’s hectic pace is where Paulina Lundberg finds her energy. The glistening snow surrounding her house where the large windows and the few hours of sun light it up makes her artistic creativity get going. The Lundberg family has lived in Kummelnäs for 14 years. The pleasant and quiet atmosphere surrounding Lake Sågsjön gave them an image of early morning dips and sipping on cups of coffee on their terrace. It was an easy choice. They could not miss the opportunity of letting their children grow up in such a safe and free environment with the green nature embracing their children’s feet. During the summer, the meadow surrounding the house is in full blossom, with flowers such as grand primroses, king lilies and cornflowers. The flowers provide utter joy and each year is as astonishing as the next, as the brown, silent earth is revived into a colorful sea. For hot summer nights, their huge terrace gives them the opportunity to invite friends over for some grilled chicken and halloumi cheese that is served with a glass of red wine.

“In the summertime we move out almost all of our furnishing to the backyard. Normally, we drag out our piano and put it beneath our apple tree” says Paulina, laughing. “When the weather permits I usually take the opportunity to bring out my paint easel and paint outdoors while listening to Edith Piaf. God, I sound so cliché right now!”

“I think the most important thing to think about when it comes to decorating your home is to use the light from outside as much as you can. Don’t have too much stuff in the window, otherwise it can feel a bit stuffy and dark, I think that’s really important. Things that are permanent, like your floor and your roof, should always be in neutral colors. While the fabrics for cushions, rugs and towels can take a lot of space and give color. Like we do here at home, for example we always change color of the things we have depending on the season and what mood we are in. In the summertime we have plenty of white things at home, giving some sort of a country feeling. But then we allow the colors to enter by bringing in flowers and plants that we get from the garden. During wintertime we have a generous amount of color in our house. The snow makes everything so grey and white that time of year, so I think you need some colorful days too!”

During her spare time Paulina likes to paint as much as possible. “I get my inspiration for my paintings by studying other people and their behavior. Depending on what kind of mood I’m in my pictures get different expressions. I have an outlet of my feelings when I paint. The people who know me well can sometimes see what mood I was in when I was painting the picture”, she says and laughs. “I love how you can change the feel of the room just through a painting. When it comes to paintings and decorating, the most important thing is that you buy the art before looking at furnishing for the room. From there you can decorate the room based on the painting. Keep in mind that it’s art and not yet another decoration, you buy it because of the emotions it gives you and not based on what colors it has or how it looks. And if you buy the furnishing based on the feeling you get from the artwork, you allow the feeling to surround the entire room.”
