IMPORTANT NOTICE: We are open for business as usual, but due to the ongoing flood relief works here in Skibbereen there is limited access to the front of the building. The contractors have very nicely left us an access point from the main street and also from the alley next to Cathal O'Donovan's bookshop. Please note though that we will have consistent access from Townshend Street via The Porch and in the side door of the building.

Some lovely images of participants enjoying Charlotte Donovan's print workshop, part of 'The Parade Press', The Parade Press will be a giant, fantastical printing machine which will roll through the streets of Skibbereen on St. Patrick’s Day: cogs turning, machinery clanking, bells ringing; churning out prints as it goes. The Landmarks and Lifeforms (Frieda Meaney and Danny Osborne) Discovery Box is getting plenty of use today in the gallery. Discovery Box is a free, self-directe...d gallery resource for parents and carers to use with their young children in the gallery. It encourages adults and children to engage with the exhibition, see and interact with the artwork and gain insight into the exhibiting artists' practice.
The Discovery Box is not about making art and does not include art materials. It is rather a series of imaginative tools to employ the creative mind and to investigate the artwork through play and conversation. In participating, it creates a space for people to spend more time with the artwork.
This Discovery Box is specifically created by artist Toma McCullim to support the exhibition Landmarks and Lifeforms by Frieda Meaney and Danny Osborne, and commissioned by Uilinn West Cork Arts Centre.
A great tool to spend valuable and interactive time for Parents and children, Early Years facilitators and Primary School and Special Needs Class Teachers and their students. Our invigilators are always on hand to guide you through the exhibition and to introduce and help you use the Discovery Box.
Landmarks and LIfeforms is open again on Monday next and through the midterm each day (except Sunday) from 12-5pm, and until April 14. Check out full details on http://highlanes.ie/Activity.aspx?ActivityID=3340
Drop in and draw, and use this great resource free of charge. #lovemuseums #DiscoveryBox #CuriosityClub
Please note that Ana Ospina will not be in her studio today due to unforeseen circumstances.

Practicing for the 'Last Dance' performance - a deep collaboration I undertook with contemporary dancer Inma Pavon exploring J.S. Bach's famous Chaccone in D mi...nor for unaccompanied violin as an interactive journey of grieving through dance. All will be made clear in the coming weeks - but suffice to say, it has been an amazing and enriching project which we undertook in collaboration with residents of the local hospital.
We perform it live on 23rd Feb in Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre.
To connect with the work directly, interact with live rehearsal streams and receive a film of the performance, plus writings and a violin map of the piece, hop on board at http://patreon.com/justingrounds
