Our GOP Congress is at it again. The GOP, supporting and beholden to the sport-hunting, trophy hunting, the gun and livestock lobbies – are attacking wolves once again.
TOMORROW the U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote on the Manage our Wolves Act, H.R. 6784 – "a bill that would strip Endangered Species Act protections from gray wolves in the continental U.S. Shockingly, too, it would bar citizens from challengin...g Congress's decision in the courts. The bill, introduced by Rep. Sean P. Duffy, Republican-Wisconsin, has only three cosponsors and was rushed through committee in just 14 days after its introduction in mid-September."
The Manage our Wolves Act is one of more than 50 congressional attempts to undermine federal wolf protections in recent years. "Wolves are not a significant threat to livestock, and the GOP attack on them is completely unjustified. The latest cattle and sheep death loss data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture show that in the eight Rocky Mountain and Great Lakes states, where gray wolves live, losses of sheep and cattle from wolves amounted to just 0.04 percent of their livestock inventories. On the other hand, ten times more livestock die from disease, birthing problems, weather events and theft than all predators put together. If Congressional representatives are truly concerned about livestock protection, they should focus their energy on eradicating these livestock maladies, not on attacking wolves."
Please STOP CONGRESS from slaughtering our wolves. They are part of the ecosystem, are a needed predator in our ecosystem, and the GOP is only kow-towing to paid special interests that want to eradicate them because of their special interests in supporting the beef lobby, livestock lobby, and sports lobby. Don't let this happen.

Black bears in the U.S. are sadly often exploited by the wild animal "pet’ trade," circuses and roadside zoos. Cruelly, they are used as university "mascots," held in backyard cages, and forced to perform in renaissance shows.
What's worse is most U.S. states have no laws governing captive wild animals. Plus, there are few federal laws that protect these animals, who may be forced to perform or are kept confined in small cages, bored, anxious, stressed, alone, and forced int...o an unnatural, cruel state. They often live in very inhumane, poor and unnatural conditions. Captive animals need stronger laws, and better enforcement of those laws.
But here's some inspiration! Amongst the people who are indifferent and even abusive to wild animals, exists some that shine a light of hope for humanity and are positive examples of the best in human beings.
Kati Krouse and Ambrose Krouse, from Montgomery, Texas, have launched an effort to raise at least $200,000 through their non-profit Bears Etc., to purchase 15-20 acres of land to build a new bear and exotic animal rescue sanctuary by 2021. The Krouse's learned that there are over 1,000 bears living in people’s backyards and in roadside attractions that need rescuing from inhumane and unnatural conditions.
Their sanctuary would be the first true bear sanctuary — "which means it would not buy, sell, breed, trade, or use animals for entertainment — focused on getting animals out of backyards and the pet trade to provide permanent placement."
Another story of inspiration and courage, and much needed help for these animals. Read their story for more about the sanctuary and the bears that have inspired this amazing endeavor.

We need heroes today. We desperately need people who not only give back to society -- but who are setting the bar high to inspire us, move us, motivate us and be powerful role models for what we can be as humans, and what we can do as humans -- for animals. Here's just a beautiful story of hope, love, compassion and inspiration.
This couple was presented the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) Lifetime Achievement Award by television wildlife presenter Bill Oddie at... the House of Lords in the UK last month.
Chris and George Rockingham co-founded the largest all-animal sanctuary and rescue center in 1994 called PACT, located in Norfolk and Suffolk. For more than 20 years they have dedicated their lives to rescuing and caring for all kinds of mistreated animals. Over this time, they expanded PACT from a sanctuary for 100 animals to a nonprofit sanctuary that cares for more than 1,400 animals every day, including wildlife, horses, and domestic animals. Their particular focus is on rescuing animals that have been victimized by physical or mental abuse.
Their work even includes the rescue and relocation of stray dogs from eastern Europe. And they have even gone so far above and beyond, to run a 24-hour Animal Ambulance that responds to urgent rescue calls all through the night, every single night!
Congratulations to Chris and George Rockingham for your amazing contribution to animals and to our society, and here's to a life well-lived. You are true heroes.

Today is #GivingTuesday! Today is a day devoted to giving to causes that are making a difference and are important to you.
Your donations can make a difference for animals. Animals everywhere are in need of support and help - whether raised in horrible puppy mills, or farm animals living in misery on factory farms, or abandoned dogs and cats living on the streets, wildlife losing their home, or sanctuaries for rescued farm and wild animals.
Animal Charity Evaluators says "Ani...mal charities are ALL neglected, but farmed animal charities are even more neglected." These farmed animals live in severe confinement, receive no medical or veterinary care, are sick, injured and diseased, are caged and can't move, and are killed---for food.
There are countless really impactful, effective nonprofits working to help liberate animals from cruelty, every day.
Here's an excellent list of animal charities evaluated by Animal Charity Evaluators - for donors who are seeking to find the highest impact for their donations. But there are many more nonprofits that are doing excellent work for animals in addition to these: https://animalcharityevaluators.org/ch…/all-charity-reviews/.
Please give, please help animals in need on this #GivingTuesday - and throughout the year.

As we brace ourselves for the cold, the frost and freezing temps of winter, consider making the wildlife that lives outside your home -- part of your circle of compassion and empathy.
You can positively impact and help wildlife and birds by making it a little easier for them to survive the winter and weather. In our human-centric world that we have created and surrounded ourselves within, wildlife is having a harder time surviving the human-caused impacts of land development..., hunting, toxic and chemical pollution, manure waste runoff from factory farming, fertilizers and pesticides, climate change and worsening storms and fires, ocean pollution, plastic and litter pollution, and many more human-caused hazards for wild animals to face and endure. We are already deep in The Sixth Great Mass Extinction event of our time, and need to do everything we individually can to help our animal friends survive and thrive.
This article lists 40 ways you can help wildlife every single day. But the greatest impact you can make on animals - is simply by going vegan. Not only does this one change impact the animals that are raised and killed for food, but this shift also impacts the wildlife, fish, birds, and species that are negatively affected and being decimated because of industrial farming, free-range livestock farming, and the raising and killing of billions of individual domestic animals for food.
Wild animals today are losing their homes and lives at an alarming pace to livestock farming, heavy farm pollution, farm manure and toxic waste runoff, factory farm development and operation --- animal agriculture is THE leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, water pollution, and habitat destruction (U.S. EPA, Office of Research and Development, 2004) and livestock now covers a shocking 45% of the Earth’s total land (Livestock Exchange, 2011), for food we do not need to thrive.
It's time for a reawakening and shift to living a life that embraces all animals in our circle of living and compassion, not only some; leaving behind and shifting away from personal actions that contribute to harming, hurting, dominating and killing animals for any reason; to a conscious lifestyle that supports our animal brethren, and where we become the stewards of animals we can be and were meant to be.
