Wildlife Caregiver, Devin Case is conducting a behavioral training session with Sammi. Caregivers use behavioral training techniques to enhance the care and welfare of the animals in our care. This enables us to provide veterinary care such as blood draws and radiographs safely while limiting the stress of the animal, as well as to improve and maintain psychological well-being by providing stimulation, physical activity, and additional opportunities to express species specific behaviors.
In response to an article in All Animals magazine, a donor made and shipped a box stuffed with tissue paper flowers to Black Beauty Ranch for the animal care teams to use as enrichment. Here are a few photos of Gizmo (Rhesus macaque), and several other animals enjoying the flowers.
Thanks Rue Ann for your thoughtful gift!

Here is a sneak peak of the shaker puzzle box the primate caregivers at Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch are making for the Siamangs. It could be hung horizon...tal or vertical and the Siamangs have to manipulate it to shake the treats out. They are putting the finishing touches on them and it will be installed soon!
